According to Genesis 19, a gang of men want to have sex with two strangers in Lot's house. Lot comes out and says "don't be so wicked", thus defining the term "wicked" within the context.
The next thing Lot does is offer his two virgin daughters to the gang of men to appease them, saying "do whatever you will with them".
As this is the guy who just lectured a gang of men on what wickedness is, and he has two angels for house guests, we can assume this guy doesn't see anything "wicked" in his offering his daughters up to a gang of men to do with as they please, just as long as he gets some peace and quiet with his VIP guests.
Does God turn Lot into a pillar of salt for even suggesting this?
Apparently not. God actually saves this guy and spares a small city (Zoar) because Lot asks it of Him.
Who gets turned into salt?
Lot's wife.
Why?
Because she disobeyed God to turn around and look at the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Moral of the story?

Note that even with two angels as witnesses, Lot doesn't hesitate to offer his duaghters to the gang of men.
Obviously Lot believes God doesn't have a problem with this. And since Lot does nothing to him for it, it would appear Lot is correct.

Yep No matter how you look at it... this scripture on the outer look it is a bad thing. You really know how to pull the hate out of the bible don't you. Well buddie...
But, for one to understand the bible we need to understand cultures of the times in order to see through the eyes and experience of the people to whom the writings were directed. There is the barrier of worldviews vastly different from our own. This town that they are talking about was filled with sin.
It is important to know that he ended up in this town after his brother and him went sepret ways after a fight..So he is new to this very very small town and most likely had already paid the price of entrance. Sex and homosexuallity,Orgies ruled here they knew of no God They only knew of pleasures of sex (now, now I know I said it.. but please lets try to focus here).and well thats about it.
Back in the day many towns were institutionalized in rituals of cleansing and rules and regulations governing everyday life. If you did not follow these rules you would suffer an unthinkable fate and to graffic to write.
The Lord was sending his angles to the town that he was living. They are understood after the reading that yes they (the two angles) were actually in discize as men. He knew right off that these men were Angles of God.
To the modern eye to offer your daughters to be raped and torcherd beyond rationality is just unheard of. We need to remember that. The towns people wanted to have their way with the men. Lot did not want the angles to endure the torcher so he offered up his daughters. But, these towns people were of a homesexual tendancey there for had NO intrest in his girls at this momment in time(or for that matter in the past because they were still virgins). This was what the price was to take resident in the town and or to visit, was sex.
This was a very smart move on his part he knew that they would turn down the very thought because the sights were on the payment of sex for taking shealter in the town.
They (Lots family) were told to leave the town and not look back. Lots wife was comfy in this town they have come to know and call home. She didn't really want to move on.
Many remember this story and say to it..It is because she disobayed God. Yes, This is very true.
But more can be learned from this then meets the eye.It is more then a significance beyond disobedience. We all want to hold on to our old ways while we move forward to the new ways we try to make for ourselfs. But many of us are guilty of living in the past and getting stuck unable to move forward in our life.
Let me see if I can explaine..I am along with countless others are all guilty of looking back to our past and have a very hard time moving forward. I too was very stuck in my past that was filled with traumatic experiences, heart breaking situtons I could not move my sights past that. It took many years to "Let Go" and "Let God" (please forgive the pun).
Sometimes our feelings associated with those experiences are relived many times over making it virtually impossible to move forward with a fresh outlook on life.We can not stop our minds from reliving that momment over and over again. Sometimes so much we can actually smell the smells of that situation. The patterns of behavior and thinking no matter how miserable the patterns may be we'll still hold on because it's comfortable and familiar to us. But we somehow are able to eventually move on.
Although Lot's wife was trying to escape along with her husband as God instructed she was still comfortable with what she was trying to leave behind. And despite God's urgent plea to move forward at all costs, she couldn't let go of what was familiar to her. Therefore, she held herself back in what she was trying to escape. This is something everyone can relate to at some point in their lives.
Of course, we do not turn into actual pillars of salt, I personally have stayed in situations and relationships, seemed to have the very ground I stood on pulled from under me. I have endured lost lifes. As well as relived all the pain that was assocated with this. It can leave us all stagnant in every part of our life because of my refusal to let the past go.
They did not have the time to give it years.. it was then.. no second chance.. It was you move on with this life of yours. Do not look to the past. Do not hold on to the past. Your only choice is to move forward with your eyes in the sights of God. To trust in him. Not with your eyes on your self and holding on to the past. We can move forward we can allow the cleansing spirit of God to take away our pains of the past, if we just let him.
The moral of the story. We can't hold on to both the past and the future. We have to let both of them go so we'll be able to move forward in the present.
As always,
Seek,Learn,Discover,Love,
Peace to you

First of all, the strangers in Lot's house were angels. And second, if the mob had raped them, it would have been an act of homosexuality, which is an abomination in God's sight.
http://www.studythebible.com/question/topics/homosexu.htm
says:
In Genesis 19 we read where God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of their exceeding wickedness. When the angels came into Sodom and went to the house of Lot, the men of the city surrounded Lot’s house demanding that the visitors be brought out so that they might "know" them, Genesis 19:5. The word "know" was used of sexual relationships, and if this is not the case here, then why did Lot offer his daughters to them, Genesis 19:8? Leviticus 18:22 condemns same-sex sexual intercourse. Romans 1:26-27 condemns homosexuality.

The answer is:: it was the custom in those days to protect ;your house guests at any cost, Lot also probabaly knew that the mob might not harm his daughters. the city was destroyed because of sexual peversion (Jude 6-7) . . .And the angels that did not keep their original position but forsook their own proper dwelling place he has reserved with eternal bonds under dense darkness for the judgment of the great day. 7 So too Sod′om and Go‧mor′rah and the cities about them, after they in the same manner as the foregoing ones had committed fornication excessively and gone out after flesh for unnatural use, are placed before [us] as a [warning] example by undergoing the judicial punishment of everlasting fire.
*** g80 11/8 p. 27 Lesson of Infamous Cities ***
Conditions in Sodom
One evening, two strangers entered Sodom. The prosperous men of the city saw them, but no native extended a welcome. Finally, Lot, a God-fearing man who had settled in the area, arrived. Catching sight of them, he insisted on their staying in his home for the night. Before Lot and his visitors were ready to retire, the house was surrounded by a mob. The depraved people of Sodom, from boy to old man, demanded that the visitors be turned over to them. Why? They wanted to rape them.
Yes, Sodom was a place where any visitor might be sexually assaulted. The inhabitants had no regard for the rights of others and were bent on satisfying their selfish desires and passions. Surrounding peoples were greatly distressed about the serious violations of human decency. This resulted in a general outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah. The Bible states that the complaint was not overlooked by “the Judge of all the earth,” Jehovah God.—Gen. 18:20, 21, 25.
The presence of the two strangers in Sodom was not a mere coincidence. According to the Bible record, they were angels who had been sent there to warn Lot and his family to get out of the city before its destruction. Lot and his two daughters did escape, but his wife perished because of failing to heed angelic direction for a successful flight.—Gen. 19:1-26.

Once you leave the old life, don't look back at it longingly.
This also shows the moral depths one can sink to when influenced by an evil society. Imagine, throwing your own children to a group like that...but then, Lot probably KNEW these people were not interested in women. That should point something out.

The story of Lot and Sodom isn’t about homosexuality.
It’s about how to treat, and how not to treat strangers.
You have to start reading the story in the previous chapter, when the angels as strangers are treated properly.

have you ever thought about a good bible study? You could have many of your questions answered, learn a lot and make new friends.
Much of the story has to do with cultural mores of the time. If you'll take the time to do your research you'll find the answer yourself and that's the best way to really learn and understand. Not depending on the answers of others.
