God X never did exist as anything beyond an idea... Killing the followers, however, would not kill the idea but merely push it into a history book.

Old gods never die, they merely fade away like the soldiers who died for them. - me

Well then let me ask you this then...if the gods of the Native Americans, or the ancient Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, etc. exist, then what would Christan's say? That'll shatter their beliefs now won't it? But once you kill off a certain amount of the followers, eventually the god(s) will cease to exist. As in, with no one to believe, that particular faith dies out. But the gods still exists in memory, we still study Zeus, the Native Americans myths, etc. So they still live on, like dead languages, they may not be used anymore, but they have existed. Don't know if that makes any sense but...oh well..

I think the question is flawed... It assumes X exists when X has followers...

I would say X doesn't exist after all X's followers die, but only because X didn't exist in the first place. Unless of course Thor, Zeus, and Ra were real... in which case we'd live in a very strange world with odd rules for deities.

Also, what kind of horrible immoral atheist would suggest that all atheists have a moral obligation to murder theists? Although you didn't actually say that, I'm going to take it that way because I'm pretending to be a fundie right now.

I would assume if the god X really existed, then yes. If he is actually a god, then that means he is their creator.
Let's say I create a sweater. If that sweater is destroyed, this doesn't mean that I die.

However, if god X didn't really exist and only was created by the minds/imagination of its followers, then that's a different story. You could say that the god might die. But he might not die because the knowledge/books of him might still exist. For example, the Greek mythologies are still well-known today. But most people don't actually believe in those gods. So you can argue if they are actually "dead" or not because their legends and stories still live on.
But you could say that a god did die because his "teachings" or his "power" would not be in effect anymore.

i believe we give God if he so exists, through our will. a schizo can believe his on fire, and die as if he were. there has been documented cases where people tumor growths under the skin the way the body would act as if it were actually frying. the power of the mind is a great thing, quantum physics, a theory is that all things are linked through energy. they still haven't proved it, but there has been a test where quantum foam was dissected and it reacted differently when watched in people compared to video, as if the people seem to control it, which suggests on a sub atomic level we can interact with things. which farther suggests that we all could be link as one, working unit. now i'm not sure if i believe that but, hey i seem weirder stuff.

God is a concept, not a physical being.

If you kill all the followers of any specific god...then the concept of that god will no longer exist.

Thus, negating that god's existence.

Just like if you killed all atheists, the concept of atheism would be a moot point, and would no longer be necessary or exist.

Hypothetically I think that yes he would. Man, I am so glad you are not advocating the murder of the followers of god x! I've never met any but I'm sure they aren't ALL bad! :)

Yes. A reality will always exist in at least one person that there was a possibility that God X existed, although they may not follow him or completely believe in him/her.

Now 'God X' is something even I could believe in. 'God X' sounds real SciFi. I think you may have inadvertently started a new cult? This is the way Scientology started. There's money to be made, Pastor Disaster.

Depends if god x is the God of the Bible, because He will be around at the end just as He was there in the begining.
