“This clash is an absurdity because ... there is much scientific proof in favor of evolution, which appears as a reality that we must see and which enriches our understanding of life and being as such.”

Darwin's "Origin of the Species" was a balsy attempt to put forward an alternative theory of human origin based on personal observation, while surrounded by religious bigots who'd gladly crucify anyone who suggested anything of the kind.

When the Wright Brothers produced the first heavier than air flight at Kitty Hawk, the task was similarly denounced in advance by the leaders of science-religion. The Wright brothers' claims were pronounced fraud by scientists in their smug knowings, until the feat could no longer be denied.

Darwin's still theory, but the descendants of the same scientific community/religion who denounced heavier-than-air-flight, have embraced it as a new doctrine of faith.

How do the followers of the religion of science differ from the followers of any other religious doctrine, except in the scientific denouncements on intellectual grounds, as opposed to moral/ethical ones in doctrinal religions?

God created the tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden, right? Then he forbids the eating of its fruit. When Adam and Eve did eat, it gave them knowledge. With God forbidding the eating of this fruit, does he not want us to have knowledge? Or just not the knowledge between good and evil? And if not the knowledge between good and evil, why do Christians (other religions as well, I know) feel they need to teach people right from wrong? Isn't that against God's implied command?

Don`t you think that Derek does overdo it a little?
He does not come across as genuine and, his claim, "Spirits do not like the light," why not? They don`t have eyes to blind their sight, and when he says, rather forcefully and aggressively, "Come on, you coward! Show yourself!" So theatrical, as if a bodyless ghost can be physically frightened. And, if anything does happen, Yvette Fielding shits herself and comes out with the `f` word.

What is the reason behind this sort of non-sense? I for one, have nothing against non-Muslims who say anything against Islam because they are entitled to their opinion.. We can only represent our opinion and hope for peace and love between everyone.

BUT... After reading this question I was rather angered. Because this was a "Muslim". And no offence to anyone since everyone has there own way of thinking, but some Muslims actually agreed with the person who asked the question.. saying to others we hang out in "cliques".

I say we pray for our Ummah and pray to Allah to guide a lot of the ignorant within Islam. I stand by my brothers and sisters and all Muslims. But Allah has taught us to speak up against an unjust person.. persons, Muslim or not. And ALL Muslims should feel that way.. Do you agree??

You're the only ones with scientific knowledge, critical thinking, reason and "logic", uh?
If your message of the non-existence of God made so much sense, why are you still a minuscule minority?

The Reverend Phelps (no I've never heard of him either) says that Ireland has a 'f@g inspired criminal law' because in Ireland it's an "offence for a person to use words that are threatening, abusive or insulting and are likely to stir up hatred against a group of persons on account of their sexual orientation"
Obviously Phelps views this as contrary to his beliefs that he should be allowed to threaten and abuse whoever he wishes.

This is the age of the Evangelicals baby! Christians don't have to prove anything, that's for God to do. So, why do folks always look at God like he's some kind of light switch? Did the Da Vinci code really get to you that bad? Even if I'm wrong and there is no God, is it so wrong for me to love you as a brother? To seek out your well being through prayer? To exercise a little discipline in my life? Holla.

Just finished picking the best answer for another question where we were talking about the fact that there are no more than a handful of what we might call "real", or "good", Christians here.

Now I know this question is going to be plastered with advice from those who call themselves "christian". But I think we're keen enough to know the real from the unreal.

I'd like to thank the real ones for remaining amongst us, not only for their thoughfulness and compassion, but also as a graceful counterpoint to the hatred and bigotry that too easily flows from others who may claim that faith with their mouth, but not their hearts.

To those few: you give hope and meaning to your religion, not the other way around. I firmly believe that.

Love and Peace to you.

Exodus 11 tells the story of Babel, and how God saw men building a great temple, and decided to hit them with different languages. He says:

"If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

This story makes it appear as if God doesn't want mankind to progress and abhors human education? He purposely scattered mankind, because they were communicating well. That action would have created wars, due to misunderstandings, and mistrust brought on by lack of communication.

Why does God hate humans?

Man is the crown of God's creation. God made man different from animals because God wants man to take responsibility for his creation. Man is made with intellectual (knowledge & wisdom), has his/ her own free will, dignity, spiritual being (religious), social being, emotional-being( ability to love) and lastly conscience (ability to choose right from wrong). These things are what make us different from animals or other living organisms. But those things are given to us because of a SPECIAL responsibility or what we Christians call Divine Responsibility of Man. We have to take care, promote, protect and preserve God's creation. God didn't gave us the obligation to destroy nor abuse His creation but we could USE his creation for a living. Now the question is... are we doing that responsibility?

Plenty of smug to go around.

Plenty of pronouncements by all of us about much of which we know little.

Plenty of certainties by all.

But are the followers of the evangelical religion of atheism or the evangelical religion of science more devoutly smug in their assertions than the followers of the evangelical Judeo-Christian-Muslim faiths?
