You're the only ones with scientific knowledge, critical thinking, reason and "logic", uh?
If your message of the non-existence of God made so much sense, why are you still a minuscule minority?

Why would you think I'm making stuff up?

According to this poll, 90% believe in God and only about 3% consider themselves atheists. This is a 2007 poll people...may not be entirely accurate but it's a sample that , in my view, illustrates the general population.

According to your own government your facts are wrong.
The breakdown in the USA is:-
Protestant 52%
Roman Catholic 24%
Others religions 4%
No religion 20%

Try getting your facts right. Then start trying to convert the 'miniscule' minority.

What happened to greek mythology? What happened to Zeus and Thor and Odin? At one point in history it was HUGE..... where is it now? It fizzled out because it stopped making sense.

Just because 90% of americans are dumb and believe in these fairy tales..... that doesn't mean it's right, and it sure as hell doesn't mean it's permanent. Christianity, like most religions, is a fad. It'll be around for a little while and it will fizzle out and something will take it's place. If we're lucky atheism will take its' place so for once in the history of this planet we can make some REAL progress that is unhindered by superstition and ridiculous religious beliefs. There won't be religious power to put fairy tales in schools along side subject that whole real educational value.

Just because they are the majority that does not mean they are right. Get off your pedestal and learn some modesty. You're not as great as you believe yourself to be and nor is your massive cult.

No. Smart people can be deluded by others who have power over them; for instance, parents. Since children always believe their parents, and parents pass down garbage such as religion to their children, the children will grow up religious, despite there being so much evidence against religion. It's very hard for people to let go of their beliefs, even if they're wrong; that's why there aren't many atheists.

The believers themselves aren't dumb or simpleminded. They have just believed their parents, even though their parents are wrong. It's not an issue of being smart or not. It's more an issue of trust without evidence, which is what children do.

Actually its 77% of Americans in the latest (2001) survey, and falling at a rate of about 1% per year, or a little more.

Of those who say they are Christian, at least 40% have no Church affiliation and take no part in their religion at all. In other words, it is an affiliation primarily by birth. This takes active Christians down to 46% or less than half the population.

So it is Christians who are in the minority. Research your stats next time.

Americans must have it right? There is a whole world out there-and according to my brief research atheists and non-believers make up 1.1 billion of the people on this planet, which puts us in third place. :) Granted, Christianity (in total-Catholics, Methodists, etc...all lumped together) does take first place with Islam taking second, but does that make it right? I didn't know it was a competition. But of course, I haven't sent legions of people to third world countries bribing people with food and supplies to convert those darn heathens.

The majority of people thought slavery was ok in 1800. The fact that a large number of people feel a certain way has nothing to do with whether they are correct.

I think it takes a lot more courage to think outside the bubble that most of us are placed in from birth than to just go along with the story, not questioning it.

Dumb? No. Smart people can believe in stupid ideas, though.

Not necessarily dumb, but yes that they believe in fairy tales. That is why they believe in the tooth fairy. You seem to consider scientists dumb for believing that they can make electricity, cars, airplanes, medicine, etc. Does your tooth fairy do that?

Pretty much.

Majorities aren't always correct you know. That's one of the easiest arguments to overthrow. I could easily say that a majority of people used to think slavery was a good idea too, or how the majority thought the earth was flat, or that women were inferior to men, but I'll spare you.
