This is the age of the Evangelicals baby! Christians don't have to prove anything, that's for God to do. So, why do folks always look at God like he's some kind of light switch? Did the Da Vinci code really get to you that bad? Even if I'm wrong and there is no God, is it so wrong for me to love you as a brother? To seek out your well being through prayer? To exercise a little discipline in my life? Holla.

Christians do not have to prove that God is real. We accept the FACT that HE is indeed real and very much active in our lives.

His Word, The Bible, (I know there are many variations of it), but nevertheless, the Word that we have if we apply it to our lives we will walk out our Christian walk (the faith walk) pleasing to our God and make our way to heaven when this life is over.

If you do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died for your sins, rose again in three days, and ascended to the right hand of the Father, you will not go to heaven and experience the blessing of eternal life.

If you do not accept the message of faith in Jesus as the Savior of the world, you will have eternal damnation in hell.

Very nice point. I'd like to offer my own point in support of your own, if I may be so bold. The party with the burden of proof in any debate is the party that makes the initial position. For example, if you initiate a debate by stating that God does not exist, you are required to prove and defend your position. If I initiate a debate by stating that God is real, the burden of proof is on me. The initiator makes statements in support of their position, then the opposition takes a turn. It continues, going from one viewpoint to the next, until all parties that wish to be heard have been heard, and a consensus is reached. The problem with either party in this particular debate requiring the burden of proof of the other is that there can be no true debate since the matter is, essentially, irresolvable since no consensus is possible. Proponents may be won and lost on either side of the issue, but in the end, there will be no meeting of the minds. While individuals on both sides may change their minds, on the whole, the two differences of opinion will always be present, right up to the very end. Christians CANNOT back down, atheists and others won't.

Well said Golum, really well said. Indeed Christians have nothing to prove for God is the only proof and in His time He will reveal Himself. I find life as a Christian to be satisfying in so many ways. To love our fellow man and woman, to have a well disciplined life of prayer, there is nothing like it.
BTW- I loved Davinci Code; a bit of a wild ride. Great fun!

They don't have to; but atheists don't have to prove he isn't, either. Don't know about this "age of Evangelicals" you're talking about. Conservative Christianity is beginning to have some problems, largely due to the political aims of some religious leaders.

As for a philosophical/theological point, though. The burden of proof is upon Christians to prove he is correct in this sense. The one who claims has to be the provider of the proof. If I claim I was abducted by aliens, would the burden of proof be upon me to prove I was, or upon the person I tell it to to prove I wasn't?

I really don't care what anyone believes. You don't have to prove God is real for you to have faith, just don't tell everyone else they have to reason the way you do. Christians are free to believe whatever they want, all I ask is the same decency toward what I believe.

Nope. If its real to you, then its real...that why we call it faith. I don't need your proof....I have my own beliefs.

Joseph... i am assuming you call yourself Christian....and people like you are the very reason so many doubt your faith and ideals. You appear to be an intolerant fool. Intolerant fools need all the help they can get. So they try to feel better about themselves by thinking that their god supports the crap that they spew. I hope for your sake you are right.

We don't have to prove it to anyone who chooses not to listen and learn and be saved. We just have to live our lives as examples. We pray for those who are still lost, and know that one day all the non-believers will be on their knees admitting that Jesus is Lord. We live our lives in peace. God bless you.

There are two things Christians cannot prove:
1) god exists
2) they are not deeply deluded

The evidence of God's existence is clearly seen in what he has made.
