Does that mean Pauls word is greater that Jesus word?
How can you obey Paul and deny Jesus and still say you follow the word of God? Was Paul not a man and Jesus god in the flesh? Would Jesus command you to do one thing just before he died if that were not his wish?

Through the microscope, we observe the E. coli bacterial flagellum. The bacterial flagellum is what propels E. coli bacteria through its microscopic world. It consists of about 40 individual protein parts including a stator, rotor, drive-shaft, U-joint, and propeller. It's a microscopic outboard motor! The individual parts come into focus when magnified 50,000 times (using electron micrographs). And even though these microscopic outboard motors run at an incredible 100,000 rpm, they can stop on a microscopic dime. It takes only a quarter turn for them to stop, shift directions and start spinning 100,000 rpm in the opposite direction! The flagellar motor has two gears (forward and reverse), is water-cooled, and is hardwired into a signal transduction (sensory mechanism) so that it receives feedback from its environment.

If god cannot prevent his representatives from doing that, how can anyone believe in god??
Or better, why should anyone?
Dont say that priests are just human beings because that is just an excuse...god according to the bible destroyed cities and flooded the earth because he didnt like what was going on....does that mean that when he doesnt do anything about priests molesting children he doesnt reject it??
why did he destroy sodomah and gomorrah so many years back but today he doesnt fry with a thunderbolt those priests???

I was just wondering where Pat Robertson went to church. If the 700 Club is broadcast from Virginia Beach (or thereabouts) I would imagine that he would either attend a local church there or have some sort of independent service.

So most of you (Religion section of Y!A) probably don't know this, but... Those of us who read and post in the Science section (particularly Biology) have to put up with a never ending string of pseudo questions about evolution that are obviously just intended as a means of promoting a religious belief in non-religion sections of Y!A.

So my question is... Do you support these obvious misrepresentations of science for the sake of promoting a religion? Or do you think that these people are doing more harm to the religion they promote than good with these posts?

Of course any other thoughts about these kinds of posts generally would be of interest. Thanks!

I haven't; I don't think it's likely that I will be, but I'm curious--how common is it, really?

Which is it? How does one go about cherry-picking which parts of God's scripture is to be taken literally and which parts are metaphorical license? Especially when God himself was so fond of metaphor:

1 Peter 3:20
"God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God."

Please don't take the easy way out & say "Both".

These three verses seem to imply that it was in Lebanon.

(I am not quoting so that mostly Christians will look it up and reply).

...without form, and void, and darkness was upon theface of the deep, and the Spirit of the Goddess moved upon the face of the waters, and the Goddess said, "Let there be Light." and there was Light.......

Christians: how does this make you feel? Do you agree that this version of Genesis 1:1-2 is valid or would you say it is not valid?

Sneaking all of it onto Mt. Arrarat is too much of a pain, I think I'll just stick it on a mountain in the American west and tell everyone that the Mormons were right. Maybe Mt. Hood.
Any other suggestions on how I can make the ark look more realistic? What if I hide a grilled cheese sandwich that looks like Noah inside? On some of the timber I'm going to carve the following:
'Noah's Ark - First three rows may get wet.'
