But to their horror, find it riddled with infidel atheists and non-believers?

Matt: we're getting a little off-topic here by venturing into morality but I was compelled to address your falsehood. Morality does in no way depend on religion.

"There seems to be a terrible misunderstanding on the part of a great many people to the effect that when you cease to believe you may cease to behave."
— Louis Kronenberger

"One of the greatest tragedies in human history was the hijacking of morality by religion."
— Sir Arthur C. Clarke

WOW- I would have been ok with your question, until you said infidel atheists and non believers. First of all I am a Christian, and I really love Jesus, however, I also want to see others come to know Him, so if non-believers come here maybe someone will come to know Jesus- however if people are calling others names then why would they want too. I love Jesus, but I also love ALL people , because SO DOES JESUS!

Any believer who has been online for more than a day or so knows what to expect.
Believe it or not, our shock-level is probably higher than you imagine.
For instance, I have lived through seven teen agers and the ICP...
And you honestly think we could be "shocked" by the silliness we find in religious forums? Some of us come online just to play with the "infidels".BTW, the teen agers are all grown up now, all fine Christians and I am proud of them. We all made through the "phase" without too much bloodshed....

I can't answer directly for the opinions of typical believers since I'm not one, but I'll add my hope that what's been happening here continues along on the same course...

R/S is a good playground for the non-believers to exercise their brain power ... and I guess it's got some value for the believers as well. Who knows, perhaps they'll start using their own brains, too.

I wasn't shocked, because I find the atheists and 'non-believers' on EVERY 'religious' website I go to. I actually really like R&S on Y!A because I can give longer and more reasoned responses ... I am not a 'fundamentalist' and some of my ideas are mine alone ... but it's fun to answer a 'ridiculous seeming' question in a 'reasonable tone' ... and even to be very polite ... that tends to 'throw them off' their pace, every time.

you know, Brian, you are still a painus in the anus

there is something kinda weird going on when people who are neither religious nor spiritual hang out in R&S and mock those of us who believe that there is something bigger than ourselves, maybe a Creator, whatever.

If we believers are just a bunch of deluded idiots, then tormenting us is kind of like tormenting a retarded child. but there are people here who are searching for the good stuff, we have the hope of an afterlife, and while I will freely admit that some of the atheists are far more clever than some of us believers, there is something pathetic and wrong about non-believers tormenting believers. We believers are trying to figure things out---y'all non-believers need to get your own life. hope it works out for you. what kind of weird twisted psychology impells you to spend so much time in R&S?
What are your issues? What do you get from this?

I never expected it to be any such thing. Since it's labeled "Religion & Spirituality" instead of "Christianity & Spirituality", I expected to encounter people of all faiths, and questioners of all faiths, including some participants who don't profess any faith at all. I'm a Christian, but have enough sense to realize that not everybody else is.

Some are regulars here, so they are probably used to non-believers by now. But the ones who are new are easy to detect, by just reading what they ask i,e, "if humans came from monkeys why are monkey still here?" or "Offering the Pascal's wager" etc.
