If God actually did exist, he wouldn't be the evil Old Testament god. He'd be a kind, loving compassionate god who would love all of his creations. He wouldn't hate people just for being gay or approve of people beating their kids like the Bible says, he'd truly love everyone.

Unfortunately, he doesn't exist.

This gets asked quite frequently, it seems to me. Yeah, if there were a god, which I am pretty sure there is not, if it doesn't let me into heaven with the kind of life I've led, so be it. I'm a lot more honest, considerate and generous than many believers I know. Just because I didn't sit in some dank building once a week and chant words nobody even listens to, that shouldn't keep someone out of paradise.
Kind of a win-win situation for me. Meanwhile, if the atheists are right, you believers have wasted an awful lot of time for nothing, didn't you?

expensive Athiests... isn't it a probability that a "God" does exist, and consequently you'll be Agnostic? ~~~ From what i'm able to make certain, an agnostic is skeptical. No 'ideals' one way or the different. An atheist 'believes' that there is no God. 'perception' is faith. Atheism looks a 'faith'! Even dogmatic!

Absolutely. I do more to help people than the vast majority of Christians, so God would be quite shallow-minded to overlook all of my hard work to benefit society just because I am a scientist and need proof before I'll believe in something. Anyone who thinks even good atheists go to hell has a very poor grasp of their own religion. According to Christianity (as one example), all sins are equal, and since we all sin to some extent, atheists who are good people would get into heaven over Christians who are bad people.

But, then again, I have no proof that my good deeds will be repaid in any way, shape, or form. I do them because it's the right thing to do, and I enjoy helping people. It's not about earning a cushy spot in heaven.

well I'm not an Atheist. I believe in God. But I have some friends who are atheists, and they're pretty good decent people. I really think that its your hear which leads you to heaven. If you're a good person then you will be rewarded for your love and kindness u showed to others. when we think of God, we think of love.....and some one who loves us that much would not burn us for all eternity! I think its certain experiences in life which lead people to believe that there isn't a God! but yes I think if you're a good hearted human being. Atheist or not. you will go to heaven.

The book of Bokonon clearly states that everybody goes to heaven, to see what their part was in God's great plan: what their wampeter was, and what their karass. So if that was true, of course I would go to heaven, just like you and everybody else. But since it is all a big book of foma (lies), I don't think I will. The idea of me will decompose along with the rest of me.

Well that would depend a whole lot on which god you are talking about. I think that my heart weighs a little more than a feather so Ammut might have to devour my soul. Is that what you mean?

To suspend believe and say your paradise does exist, does that also mean men like Gandhi couldn't get into your paradise and would spend eternity in hell? If a man like Gandhi can't get in, how would moral intentions allow me access?

Well you don't specify a deity - there are thousands with thousands of tales to go with them.

It's a mute point because death is the end. I do good deeds because I wish to help my fellow human beings not because it will get me a passport to some kind of non-existent afterlife.

Which god, Vishnu, Ra, Allah, Thor, Zeus, Poseidon, the FSM? we have thousnads of them, it would be much easier if you were more specific. Anyway, "What if" questions are very predictable, the answer is pretty much obvious if your are talking about the god of the Old testament, atheist are not that stupid, most of them already know what will happen to them if Yahweh exist, the problem is, that I cannot prove that either the Christian God or other gods don't exist, but I do not think that their existence is an alternative that is sufficiently probable to be worth serious consideration.
