Pope Benedict XVI reasserted the primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday that says other Christian communities are either defective or not true churches and Catholicism provides the only true path to salvation.

Why is god referred to as a "he"? Why can't god be a female? I have always wondered this. Maybe since men wrote the bible they made god a male? I just want to know other people's thoughts about god's gender.

I cant tell because i promised my dad i wouldnt tell on people in life. What should I do?

The Bible describes a God who will inflict worse torture than any human has ever done, a God whose acts would garner condemnation from every quarter of the earth were they performed by a ruler or revolutionary.

Yet Christians worship this God and look forward to those moment when they believe such atrocities will occur.

Or do they not?

Am I ill-informed, or somehow misinterpreting the scriptures?

Explain to me why Christians do not long for the anguish of those who disagree with their beliefs.

all the answers just said "It doesn't matter". How many of you would have broke out in a sweat racing to post something if it was a Catholic Church? Then I am sure you wouldn't have said "It doesn't matter"

Do you really think that God spends ALL his time creating souls and stuffing them into babies? Why not just have all the souls already made and ready to go. It says in the Bible that God knew King David before he formed him in his mothers womb. It DOESN"T say he knew ABOUT David or OF David. It says he KNEW David. Alot of Christians add little words to the Bible to change the meaning. Also, Muhomad saved the Origional Genisis acount and when you compair it to what Joseph Smith wrote it's very simular. In the Koran Genisis acount Adam and eve lived in heaven before they came to earth. This was the acount before some men got their gruby hands on it. But really, do you believe that God spends all his time creating souls at the SPUR OF THE MOMENT when someone has sex.

Doesn't feel very nice to be told you're going to Hell, does it?

Maybe you'll think twice next time you say it to an atheist.

So the events of 9-11- 01 Was actually caused by the dominant thoughts of those who were sent here to attack us, Their dominant thoughts were engrained by the teachings of their family, religion, and community. Not the dominant thoughts and teachings of those who were victims of that attack. Do you agree or Disagree?

O.K. Fundies, do you really believe that people can turn from their supposed sin of homosexuality? Do you really believe in these ex-gay groups?

If so, if single, would you be willing to date/marry/have children with someone who was a "former" homosexual, who supposedly turned from the "sinful" lifestyle and found your idea of God ?

Would you mind if your adult child dated/married/had children with a former homosexual who found your idea of God?

Would you be willing to go to a Church retreat with a former homosexual and share sleeping/bathroom/shower quarters knowing you may be nude in front of them?

If you truly believe that one can turn from this "supposed" sin...shouldn't you be able to answer yes to all of the above?

Your thoughts?

My point is that Christians have had a persecution complex going on for so long that they occasionally experience mass paranoid delusions.
I’m not trying to imply that every Christian is in need of therapy.
I am saying that just because large majorities of people believe something doesn’t in any way help prove its true.
I don’t even believe it’s a Christian thing particularly; it’s a majority thing.
Christianity gives the majority the moral authority to come to wrong conclusions, just as Paganism gave the Roman Emperors and Senate the moral authority to mismanage the peoples of their time.
Christianity was the New Age philosophy at one time.

From what i have studied..most JW's today, when they are saved, become part of "the great crowd," but there are 144,000 in the annoited class that will reign and rule with Christ, I found verses that show this idea to be false... Can any JW's explain these discrepencies to me?

1) Rev 14:4 says that the 144,000 our those not defiled with woman, so only virgin men are in the 144,000.

According to JW, the Great Crown wont be in Heaven...but

2) In Rev 7:19 the great crowd is in the temple, and Rev 14:17 tells us the temple is in Heaven

3) John 10:16 says that there will be one flock, with one shepherd, not two different groups.

4) John 12:26 says that wherever Jesus is, we will be with Him, so how can the GC be in a seperate place than Him.

So ya... let me know what you think

Just as in the other first world countries as education and self-reflective analysis improves a rise in atheism follows. It is inevitable and will follow exactly the model of the rest of the English speaking world and Europe. Indeed it has already begun.

FROM ISAIAH 13:13-16:

Therefore I will make the heavens tremble;
and the earth will shake from its place
at the wrath of the LORD Almighty,
in the day of his burning anger.

Like a hunted gazelle,
like sheep without a shepherd,
each will return to his own people,
each will flee to his native land.

Whoever is captured will be thrust through;
all who are caught will fall by the sword.

Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes;
their houses will be looted and their wives ravished.

" Kundalini is referred to as a Goddess in the East, as the Divine Feminine is the archetypal form of the power of creativity and embodiment. Her effects, while transformative and supremely uplifting, may feel challenging at times and dis-integrative, especially as She does the work of setting the mind and body free from the many layers of conditioning that bind them. This allows for a higher order of integration and wholeness of Self to emerge.
Kundalini Shakti, the power of the Infinite to reveal itself....."

but believe a god can come from 'nothing'?
'He has always been there' is the same as saying the 'universe has always been there' Do these people just want to believe as the god theory promises an afterlife but a scientfic theory never would!

Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel, Yahweh our God is one Yahweh."

Genesis 2:24 "Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife and they shall become one flesh."
Word used for "one" in Deuteronomy 6:4: "ehad".
Word used for "one" in Genesis 2:24: "ehad".
Word that could have been used in Deuteronomy 6:4 if the writer had meant "unique, a single or only one": "yahed".
The way "ehad" is consistently used in the Tanakh: "a compound unity, one made up of others"; see also Genesis 1:5, 2:11, 2:21, 3:22, 49:16, Numbers 13:23, Psalms 34:20, Jeremiah 8:10 (translated as "altogether" in JPS).

I read your posts saying *No purpose of life* we are just here.
So does Benjamin Franklin have more of a purpose than a bum in the alley who never had a job an education is a drunk just taking up air?

If we have no purpose then we have no value?

Maybe the purpose of life is what GOD says *Serving Other's and not ourselves* Jesus taught *all* have value no one is above anyone else

But don't you think saying human beings have no purpose they are just here is the same as saying there is no value to life we are just here....

Many people live in this world are totally useless are evil yet we have value for them because they are human and alive and have a GOD given right to be on the planet, if that's the case Man could start saying who could they eliminate because some human beings have no purpose or value?
