The Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. When a person continues in sin and disbelief, the Bible tells us that God “gives them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin in order to show them the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God.

this is a VERY hard question to answer. I just had to do a report on homosexuals and that was a highly sensitive subject with the bible and church. According to what I have found, people often connect homosexuals with Sodom and Gommorah. It is said that God had destroyed these towns because of same sex relationships and homosexuality. However, it does not. It was damned on account of rapings and commiting the seven deadly sins on a daily basis.
i have looked throughout the bible and had NUMEROUS talks with pastors, rabbis, etc., to discuss this matter. It never came down to a definite answer because the men I had interviewed didn't know whether to answer it personally or as a leader in the church or synagogue. I had still yet to find the answer but so far, there is no damning of homosexuals in the bible. If you look it up online, there are many opinions and interpertations of what they would like the bible to say, but not what it is. So ofcourse, you won't find the answers online. The only method of finding this is to look yourslef, like I am.

It doesn't specifically say in English "gay" or "homosexual".
However, in 1 Corinthians 6:9, the Greek word "arsenokoites" (sorry, I don't know how to get the Greek letters to show up on here), means "sodomite", and was translated into English as "abusers of themselves with mankind" (King James Version).
Also in the same verse, the Greek word "malakos" is translated as "effeminate", but the root word figuratively means a "catamite". I couldn't find that in my dictionary, but I googled it and came up with this:
"A catamite is the younger partner in a pederastic relationship between two males and was a popular arrangement in the ancient world, especially ancient Rome." (Wikipedia)
Also this:
"a boy kept by a pederast" (Merriam-Webster Online)
I don't know about the more modern versions.

Good point...because the word homosexual has only been part of our vernacular since 1865...so obviously could not originally be referenced in the Bible...
Many will say where it says a man shouldn't lay with a man, as he does a woman, etc...
However, what does that have to do with homosexuality of today...homosexual, committed monogamous couples?
Homosexuality transcends the sex...many don't understand that it's not just about sex.

The terms "gay" and "homosexual" were not around back then. However, Leviticus 20:13 states "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both have sinned, and their blood will be on their own heads."
It doesn't get any clearer than that.

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.
The terms you specifically seek to find would not have been used in that time and place. It was not an idiomatic expression of the Old Testament.
I am sure that in attempts to be "politically correct", many Churches are afraid to touch the subject...but, as members of any church, we should look at the person and not judge them. These things are between them and God.

Lev. 18:22 states the principle: "You [masculine] shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination." Lev. 20:13 adds the penalty: "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them."
It need not say the word "gay" to be interpreted as a mention of homosexual sex.

It may be in the book of Psalms. I just read about it not long ago. I figure its in there because of the love chapter. It starts out saying you should not sleep with your mom..and just about everyone else in your family, then it says a man shall not lay with another man.. somthin like that but of course the Bible goes into greater detail

individually, i'm a huge fan of Thessalonians 2, verse 12 -- it is not anti-gay or something like that, yet talks approximately condemning people, so it is cool. This states that people who have faith lies are going to Hell. So... the checklist of those going to Hell occurs to incorporate the people that advised me to study the Bible interior the 1st place. candy, candy irony...
