God gave us life, everything in it and around it. He gives us our every breath! He even gave up His Son for us so that whoever believes and walks with Him in relationship will NOT go to hell but have eternal life. Yet everyone has so much trouble with believing that God would punish us if He was Love. So many fall into idolatry because they don't want the True God of the bible, but thier own god of "love, mercy, compassion, and forgiveness". God is all those things, but He also is just, righteous, holy, clothed in light.. so when we sin He has no choice but to turn from us, and if we stay in that sin until we die He can't let us into a perfect heaven of light when we've lived a life of darkness. He is our heavenly Father who as the bible says "chastens those He loves" or corrects, rebukes, slaps on the wrist if you will...all I'm saying is - our parents punish us for being disobediant and they are being good parents, but when God does it He's evil and cruel. why?

Here are the verses from Matthew 13:45-46, "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it."

I respectfully request that only Christians answer this question. I am genuinely interested in hearing their answer to this question.

I'm not interested in scriptures. YOUR opinion is what I would like.

Okay I have studied with JW'S for about 6 years. Throughout that time I haven't celebrated any holidays and so forth. I have always struggled as far as getting to the meetings and every time a holiday came around the corner. My boyfriend of 10 years is a nonactive member however intends with all his heart to go back one day. Anyways the Witnesses always say that if you are killing your kids if your not going to the meetings and studying with them and of course if you decide not to be a Witness. What a horrible feeling that is. Also they say I will die at armageddon if I go back to the world cause a person that knows the truth and turns around is like a dog who returns to his vomit.I made up my mind on what im doing however cant help but be scared of these things they have taught me. How do I get past this. I am preferably looking for ex- witnesses but any comments are fine. I do love all the witnesses iv met however I can't keep living like this.

The Robertson/Falwell/Bush contingency claims that God is Republican. By his actions alone, Jesus was a social Democrat. What are your thoughts on the Holy Spirit? Libertarian? Independent? By putting God in the middle of politics does it appear the Godhead is schizophrenic? Your thoughts on this please.

Aren't there more important things in life than continually debating about OUR PERSONAL beliefs?

Atheists say that religious people are "ignorant and uneducated". Religious people say that Atheists are "ignorant and uneducated." So, who is right? Well here's a wake-up call -- NOBODY is 100% correct. We all tell lies and anyone who says they never lie, is a liar.

Science has its fallicies. Religion has its fallicies.

Everything in this life can and is often defined by, through, and with preferences, beliefs, and opinions in mind. There is absolutely nothing in our world, that can not be argued by the other side from a slanted viewpoint. Nobody is totally open-minded or a free thinker 100% of the time. That would require us to put aside any AND all preconceptions, prejudices, and personal beliefs.

Nobody has that capablitiy!

Even Jesus himself thought his return would be imminent. Would even Jesus believe if 2 millennia passed without that prophecy coming true?

Did they even have the capacity to anticipate 2000 years into the future?

Syrian official threatens 'resistance' by September, warns Damascus preparing for large-scale conflict
Syria passed repeated messages to the U.S. that we demand the return of the Golan either through negotiations or through war. If the Golan is not in our hands by August or September, we will be poised to launch resistance, including raids and attacks against Jewish positions (in the Golan Heights)," the Baath official said. Turkey was ready to stage an offensive if necessary.
Syria has called on its citizens to leave Lebanon ahead of an expected "eruption" in that country, Arab and Iranian press reports have said.

I am looking for a reference on witchcraft as defined in the Bible. It is my theory that the word "witchcraft" has evolved to multiple definitions causing confusion on what should be condemned as defined in the Bible and what is simply imaginative play. For example the word gay once simply meant to be happy but has evolved to mean one who is a homosexual. Were I writing a book and said "he was a gay man" should we condemn him to be a homosexual or is he simply a happy man. I hope that this makes as much sense writing it as it did in my head. What made a witch in Biblical times? If you know of a book on the subject I would be very appreciative. PLEASE if you don't have an intelligent answer without mindless preaching don't bother.

I heard it (again) yesterday and while listening I realized it was an utterly stupid song. I told my hubby I thought it was stupid and he says I am impartial cause I dont believe in prayer. He has a point. So I thought I would ask some of you all.
Yes I am trying to prove to my hubby that "Pray" is a stupid song. After 16 years of marriage we find things to fight about every once in a while for old times sake. Sorry to bother you all with this but I got a dinner out to Chili's ridin on this!!
Here is a link if you have never heard the song!!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=iN4Po1b9c5U

And just so you kow I dont have a problem with songs that stem from a religious sense. There are many I love in fact like
"I believe" by Brooks and Dunn
"If your reading this" by Tim McGraw.

... voila, instant universe?

Evolution is not just one science that stands alone. It is supported by dozens of other sciences, not the least of which are geology and physics.

This is not experimental stuff.

This is stuff from the thirties and forties that led to the making of the atomic bomb.

This is stuff they use to find coal and oil.

This is the kind of science they use when excavating Holy Land relics.

Dating, morphology, cladistics, dna comparisons, all are demonstrated true, and are the underpinnings of Evolution.

A big invisible guy makes the universe in a day, or rock-solid science: which is harder to believe?

Here is just one case in many.. Unless you are a physician on this site, I think you will have a hard time disputing this:
Perry was with his daughter just after she gave birth to baby Talyah six weeks early.

They were facing disaster, as the baby was born with a hole in her heart and her blood wasn't flowing right.

They got a prayer chain of Bethel people praying all over the city as they themselves stood by the baby, desperately pleading with God.

Then the doctor -- an unbeliever -- suddenly shouted as he was doing an echocardiogram on the baby's heart, "Would you look at that!"

Amy Goodall watched with the doctor as the hole in her baby's heart disappeared on the echocardiogram.

She said, "And he's all 'look at that! This heart, it's healing right here in front of me.'"

One of the doctor's reports before all this discussed the hole in Talyah's heart, but another report after the healing makes no mention of the hole, because it had indeed totally disappeared.

If, after your communion service, there is leftover wine or grape juice or bread, what do you do with the leftovers? If a piece of bread drops to the floor, what is done with it? Is any special care taken with the washing of cups and plates used in communion?

Most importantly, WHY do you do these things?

no not the moomins the mormons (the church of the latter day saints).

I have a friend or to say i did have a friend who is a member of the mormon church and two years ago he was sent to scotland with his church and hasn't been seen since. OK its not quite as serious as it sounds, we know he is alive but are not allowed to talk to him via phone, email and can only contact him via letter which we reckon are probably read before they get to him. He left to work with the church 2 years ago and since then hasn't been allowed home once, not for christmas or birthdays or even for his grandads funeral.

All of this hasn't given me a great view of the mormon church, so i just want to know what their beliefs are and what they are doing up there. I don't want to imply that they are brainwashing him or something but do you think they are brainwashing him? and if he ever returns do you think we will ever recognise our once good friend?

If you ever heard "Around the world" by Daft Punk, it kind of reminds me of that. They just keep repeating "God's house, the house of God" over and over. The video is animated. Anyway, would like to find it again, do you know who the artist is, or anything? Thanks!
