The wording of your question is very confusing, but I think I see what you're getting at. First of all, no. We're not afraid of knowing God. To be a Christian is to know God.

It's not so much belief being the goal or a way to the goal, but it's more believing IN the goal, which is to know God and to live our lives as Christ would and ultimately spend eternity in heaven, which is the main focus of the Christian faith .

So, personal gain (or "positive knowledge") isn't the point of believing. I don't believe because I think I will get something out of it. I live my life according to the Bible and the Christian faith because I believe the Bible to be true and accurate.

Faith is...Hebrews 11.

It is not the Christian...it is the world....

God gives us away; the word of God the Bible.

Our eyes open when his spirit enters in....we become more like him...it is all about what he does not want we do. We do not take credit for God's goodness within. But we celebrate his love continuously now and forever. A merry heart does good like a medicine...it is he that give us that; a merry heart. We sing praise and make melodies in our heart to him. It heals like a medicine and we are renewed in body and spirit...that is the life change that is the goal.

No, I am not afraid. I already know Him.
My goal is to be like Jesus. My goal is to treat others the way I want to be treated, just as He did.
Thanks for the question. I think it is always good to think of what you believe and to remember your faith.

Have a good afternoon!

Believe it or not, there's a point to faith without proof. People need to feel that there's something more to this life and they need to feel that there are reasons for all the horrible things that happen in life. By saying "god has reasons we can't understand," they rationalize that all things are for the best, including war, disease, concentration camps, floods, famines, earthquakes, fires, you name it. Sometimes, I envy those who can believe that everything is going to be all right in the end, but I can't really believe it.

That's a good point. I hear those who have been given Baptism in the HOLY SPIRIT say they met CHRIST and are saved . .. but then they rebuke TRUTH . .. some of the seed fell among thorns, and some on rocky ground . .. but the seed that falls on good soil produces many fold fruits . .. but these people who say they know CHRIST then do what? Say i am saved, then go on with their life when they were asked to work in the field . .. do they miss what Scripture teaches or just ignore it? . .. they accepted freely this gift then do what with it? . .. they say "yes" to GOD but then don't do the work? . .. the harvest is plentiful but the workers few . ..

Read the Beattitudes and Matthew Chapter 25 . ..

We say we are saved by our Baptismal promises, which is a covenant of JESUS' BODY AND BLOOD . .. we must keept the commandments . ..

pennance . .. pennance ... pennance . ..

-LOVE your neighbor as yourself.
Amen.

Why would I be afraid? I already know him a bit, and the goal is to know him better and better.

Blind faith is a good way for the 'spiritual leader' to control the followers.

Great question!

It has been my experience that when you ask Christians to tell you what they KNOW about God they will either ignore you or tell you what they "know" about their BELIEFS!
