Nobody sees things without filtering - christians or atheists.

There are some of each within Christianity, I'd say. And of course we're able to see things without filtering.
I'm a pretty big optimist but I used to be the most cynical, pessimistic person imaginable, and I was a Christian back then too.

Everybody looks at things through a 'filter' it is called Personal opinions.
And to answer your question, among EVERY group of people there are optimists and pessimists. But even then people are capable of being both, it all depends on their mood at the time. We are not creatures with only one emotion.

You can't lump as all as a group... there are some optimists, some pessimists and some who are just living and taking every day as it comes.
Me... I'm generally an optimist. But I do have the ability to be very pessimistic and very cranky!
My brother... also Christian, is just the opposite... his glass is continually half empty and everyone else is to blame but him! (he's also a middle child, so he has issues! ; > )
And then I've got a friend who is so chipper and optimistic you could just beat her!!

Optimistic about the time when Jesus comes back. Pessimistic that the nature of the world is going to get better until then. Truthful enough to know I need forgivness for my sins to be acceptable to God and Jesus is the only source.

In every religion, political affiliation, dog/cat preference, you'll find that every person is different. I try to see things both ways in order to properly assess the situation. I think generally, I'm an optimist.

99% optimist 1% just seeing as they are. But really optimists really just take the good out of what's really there.
