God isn't interested in politics.
Note that Jesus told people to pay their taxes as a civic duty, but did not encourage or hint at overthrowing the Roman regime (which was quite brutal toward Christians). His focus was spreading God's word, as should ours be.
The religious right (or some therein) may think God is in their camp; I've never heard it said except by non-Repubs. I have to admit that I don't follow Robertson/Fallwell/Bush all that much with respect to religion. Regardless, our duty is to follow the law where it doesn't contradict God. That's where politics and religion cross. You can't legislate someone into heaven.

Where did any religious right member claim that? I've never seen it, feel free to post a link to whatever I'm missing. I'm religious right myself and I'd never try to force an infinite God into a US political party box, left or right. The fact that anyone would claim Jesus was a dem or republican should clue you into the fact that they don't really know him and totally underestimate him.

No way Jesus would be a Republican. He'd definitely be an independent. But if he had to chose between the two major parties, I think he'd go Democrat just for their emphasis on social reform.

God is far greater than any man-made political party.
Some of the tenants for which the Republican Party rests do in fact seem to uphold Biblical truth better than other platforms.

Mixing religion and politics is always a bad idea. If you mix those, and aren't careful, you could be just a hope, skip, and a jump away from building massive tombstones to stand the test of time.
But, my question is...what demonination is God?

God was invented by man to explain the unexplainable and has been used to rationalize everything including their political persuasion or social agenda

God has nothing to do with politics. The republicans have got a few things right and a few things wrong.

God does not meddle in politics. Those that say he does are liars.

He checked the Republican box on his voter registration so he could mess with their primaries.
