I'm an atheist and I've read some responses that some of you don't think atheism is a choice, why is that??? I think it is a choice, you analyze all the information and you make a conscious decision based on the evidence, or lack there of, to not believe that their is a god. Some people don't believe there is a god, but they continue to be religious, that is their choice, so is not atheism a choice?

My second husband is Catholic, and I've put some serious thought into converting, however when I found out that I would have to annul my first marriage, I decided not to. I have a son with my first husband, and I thought that would hurt him. Now, my son is 13, I have one child with my second husband, and just found out I'm pregnant again. My husband has not been able to let go and bond with any other denomination, and only feels comfortable in a Catholic church, therefore, our church-going has been erratic. I'm thinking that now that I will have 2 kids with him, the right thing would be for me to convert and annul my first marriage so we can find our church "home", and raise our two kids in a home that has a stronger Christian foundation. I'm just worried that all of this will alienate my son (lives w/ us part-time...goes to Baptist church youth program). What do you think? How should I handle?

Born again Christian believe that we are God's children through adoption- John 1:12, Romans 8:15, Gal. 4:5, Eph 1:5, etc...

You believe that we were created as HIs children in preexistence, before we were created by our earthly fathers. If you believe that are you calling God a sinner, as it says in Isaiah 43:27 "Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me." ???

Prior to Martin Luther’s translation of the the Old Testament from Hebrew to German, only the upper class and scholars could read the the Old Testament, which at that time was very few people. At that time, I think even Christians will agree, the Christian church was extremely corrupt. However, because of the corrupt upper class, the poor had no access whatsoever to “God’s word.” Hebrew was the language of the elite and the poor were not considered privileged enough to learn it. So my question is: Why would God take a chance on letting this happen? He could have appeared in the sky at any time or before each person at any time and told them what he expected of them. He could have created a Bible for every person in a language that they could understand. Or he could have appeared in the sky and demanded that the corrupt church leaders make his word available to the poor. However, no such thing happened. Yes, eventually Martin Luther translated the the Old Testament to German

So many people keep saying that we are "saved" by jesus being crucified.
I still really do not get it.How does someone being tortured to death "save" someone?
Explain that to me.How does it work?
I've done something bad, so god says "O.K., I know what to do, uh, I'll let you torture my child until he dies, yeah, that'll make everything right again".
This is what is required?
(What kind of father would do that to their child anyway? I'm a father and I would never do anything to hurt my child.)
If someone said that you had done something wrong, and to make it right, you would have to torture their child to death, you would think they were nuts.
HOW does that make anything right again?
How does that "save" you from this place that your god made and sends us to by default?
It makes no sense!
And while I'm at it, why the whole "I NEED to be worshipped, it's all about ME, I made you for the express purpose of worshipping me, do it or else suffer eternally"?

Do you really think that this earth was created by chance?? The earth being created out of complete randomness has just the same chance that if i dump a mess of legos into a box, shake it, and it will create a house. Look at everything around you. How complex everything is, someone must have created this. God is the creater. Where do you expect to go when you die?? Nowhere?? Heaven and Hell are real. Just as real as everything around you.

Ten points to the first Christian who can give me a general timeline and story concerning Mithras. You must include dates of his existance, how he was born, where he was born. You can get this off WIKIpedia if you want, but no cutting and pasting! I'll check you know!

They're trying to brainwash my son into believing that non-sense in those liberal propaganda centers that some call the "public school system."

Well, my child ain't learning that nonsensical hogwash. I'm sending him to a Christian Academy where he might actually learn something, and God forbid, might have some moral values too.

I'm very curious as to how religion ties in to how women view themselves, especially because traditionally a lot of religions repress women and their rights. I'm also interested in how modesty, vanity, and propriety relate (if at all) to religion.

So if you're a woman please take the time and answer these questions for me, first providing your religion. Thanks.

1. Do you burp in front of guys?

2. Do you straighten your hair?

3. Do you think that fashion magazines are degrading to women?

4. Did you ever spend all day/night getting pretty for a
guy?

5. Did you ever cry during a romantic movie?

6. Would you leave the house without makeup on?

7. Do you consider making out "unladylike"?

8. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

9. Have you ever dressed unlike yourself to impress a
guy?
