You sound just like my father. My parents have the same thinking as yours, I was brought up with no religion. We celebrated X-mas because we live in the US and that's what people in the US did. Same thing with Easter, but I hold no religious feelings towards those days nor am I seeking a religion. I believe that there is a God and I don't have to put up an allegiance to any one religion to believe in him, just be a good person and do the right thing. Every religion preaches that. My father believes that the world would be a better place without it. You're not a bad person, and you don't need a religion he was right understand the world for yourself. Good luck to you. (don't let anyone tell you are a lost soul or recruit you)

I believe your parents brought you up in a good way. Having no religion is not evil, it's just another way to live through this world. Religious persons might see it as inmoral, sinful, even blasphemous. The truth, however, is that no religion can ever give you the freedom you have to choose whatever you want. Your father was right into saying that he wanted you to see the world for yourself. Not believing in religion has many benefits, just like believing in one. In any case, I think you are understanding yourself more. Not having a religion does not make a bad person. That is a mentality push by fear and doubt.
I have never known of a war between not religious persons against another group of not religious persons. But I know many examples of wars and devastation by religion. Cheers!

Are you bad because you see wrongness in human corruptness? No. Far from it.
However, I would ask you to change your perspective a bit. It's not that the world would be better off without religion, but rather that religion would be better off without people.
People, no matter where you go, will be corrupt. In any organization where there is power to be had in any shape or form, people will desire it and desire to use it to their own means. Would the world be better off without governments? No. But it would be better off if politicians weren't corrupt.
Just because religion has been cited as the reason for why people commit atrocities doesn't mean that religion is bad. Just because I can use a chair to hit someone with doesn't mean chairs are bad.
Religions have done many great things too, but they just don't make the news or history books as often. I recommend taking a look at Mother Teresa.

No, you're not a bad person. Instead, you seem like a seeker of the truth. I invite you to study Islam, one of the world's major religions, and the world's fastest-growing religion, by reading the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam.
I will quote a chapter of the Qur'an:
112:1 SAY: "He is the One God:
112:2 "God the Eternal, the Uncaused Cause of All Being.
112:3 "He begets not, and neither is He begotten;
112:4 "and there is nothing that could be compared with Him.

I knew a family where the mom was Catholic and the dad was Jewish. They decided to let their three children make their own decisions regarding what (if any) religion they would become.
Their older son had a Protestant girlfriend, so joined her church, and kept going even after they broke up.
The daughter's friends and acquaintances were mostly Catholic--and she became a Catholic.
The younger son had mostly all Jewish classmates, and became Jewish.
The point was that these children did what their peers did--so even though the family did not pressure them in any direction, they wanted to 'fit in' with their friends.
(That was a few decades back, when most people did attend some house of worship or other).
I imagine you have a lot of friends who don't have religions--or don't practice them--so you feel normal doing the same.

I wish I would know why you decided the world would be a better place without religion? You are not at all a bad person. But on the other hand this is our weak point not to have our own religion - we might be an easy prey for the ones whose religion is so strong , even fanatic. So, be cautious.

Joining a "religion" will not save you according to God's word. Having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ will assure your salvation. If you are really looking for answers to lifes' questions, simply start off by reading the Book of John in the scriptures. All of the answers begin there. Becoming part of a Bible based fundamental christian church and becoming active will give you an inner peace beyond understanding. Godspeed

Your not a bad person at all. Finding what you believe and don't is part of life. I respect your father for allowing you to make those choices on your own. My suggestion is to research different views and opinions not to "convert" for lack of a better term but so you have a great wealth of knowledge. I was raised very similarly and find I truly believed in the christian faith after doing much soul searching and research. Whatever you believe is yours to have forever do not let anyone tell you different.

If you would like to liberate me and my world frm all religion, you need to study the ethics and teachings of all religions before you can make an intelligent statement about religion in general.
Also,if you want no organized religion, feel free .
If you want to take mine away from me or my right to spread my religion or hand it down to my children, you are a "bad person" and folk like you have killed millions in the name of freeing the world from"religion",which does not exist in the concrete-only particular religions practiced or mispracticed byparticular individuals.
Yes, I know that many people have been killed in the name of particular religions in the past and that militant Jihadist Islamists are doing so right now,but I condemn and work against all such violence since I am a believer in the Beatitudes and Lordship of Christ and the right of all to believe whatever they see as right. You have the right to want to see me and all believers go extinct but you do not have the right to censor us to do it. Believe what you will but let us all act to uphold the "life ,liberty and (nonviolent and nonharming of others)pursuit of happiness."

No, the world would be a worse place without religion, and most specially without ethical monotheism.
Just think about the Godless ideologies of Communism and Nazism and how they caused mass genocide. (It is estimated that Communism killed more than 100,000,000 people in the XXth Century.)
But no, you are not necessarily a bad person.
