Menon R- it was referring to the gods of the world. a god doesn't have to be a person or a spirit..it could be music,money,sex,ect.... He knew that society would create their own gods, but He is The One True God. hoped that helped you some....

Chippy-The Hebrew for this expression"light-bringer"or"shining one"is translated"Lucifer"in The Latin Vulgate,&is thus translated in the King James Version. But b/c of the association of that name with Satan,it is not now used in this&other translations. Some students feel that the application of the name Lucifer to Satan,in spite of the long and confident teaching to that effect,is erroneous. The application of the name to Satan has existed since the third century A.D.and is based on the supposition that Luke10:18 is an explanation of Isa14:12, which many authorities believe isnt true."Lucifer,"the light-bringer,is the Latin equivalent of the Greek word"Phosphoros,"which is a title of Christ in IIPet.1:19&corresponds to the name "radiant and brilliant Morning Star" in Rev22:16, a name Jesus called Himself. This passage here in Isa. clearly applies to the king of Babylon in a sarcastic/taunting way.He could elevate himself higher than God,this prophecy is a warning..no contradiction there

Chippy#2God did create night&day seperate from light&darkness..just b/c its day doesnt mean its light out or night means its dark...ex:Alaska... He also created the rotation of the earth, thus He had to create the sun&the moon(He knew this). The moon does however give light to the night. That is obvious to all. no inconsistancies there either.

Chippy#3"the four corners of the earth." The word translated "corners," as in the phrase above, is the Hebrew word, KANAPH. Kanaph is translated in a variety of ways. However, it generally means extremity. The Greek equivalent in Revelation 7:1 is gonia. The Greek meaning is perhaps more closely related to our modern divisions known as quadrants. Gonia literally means angles, or divisions. It is customary to divide a map into quadrants as shown by the four directions. the reference is to the cardinal directions: north, south, east, and west. Similar terminology is often used today when we speak of the sun's rising and setting, even though the earth, not the sun, is doing the moving. Bible writers used the "language of appearance," just as people always have. Without it, the intended message would be awkward at best and probably not understood clearly.

Chippy#4-Does the Bible say that the Earth is flat?
No ... no more than saying that you saw a sunset implies or explicitly states that you really believe it does indeed "set" ... When the language used is figurative ... beautifully written so that the reader receives a mental image of the topic being presented.
If someone tells you that the audience for a concert came from "the four corners of the Earth", do you assume they believe in a flat Earth? Or that they are using colorful terminology to describe that they came from all around the globe ... from every direction?

What we have here is a book that was written over a span of 3500 years which ended 2000 years ago on the other side of the world. There are apparent contradictions in the English versions of the Bible. These apparent contradictions are either due to errors in translation, or our lack of understanding of the customs of the times when and where it was written.
The Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic languages often use figures of speech instead of sentence structure. Even the English language has changed over the past 400 years. Psalm 116:15 is seldom understood because people don’t know what “precious” meant in the year 1611.
There is an apparent contradictions between Mat 27:5 and Acts 1:18 because in our western culture when we think of a hanging, we think to be hung by the neck with a rope, but in eastern to hang oneself would be to impel oneself upon a sharp implement. A poor man would do so on a sharpened stick or the trunk of a small tree and would hang there.

Here is a list of 384 contradictions:
http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/contra/by_name.html
Please prove them wrong in a short, concise post, using the following rules:
1- Do not claim an error of translation if you don't have the original manuscript for all books described, whether it is aramaic, hebrew, greek or any other language, and if you can't prove you are completely fluent in all of these languages.
2- Do not claim a contradiction of dispensiation unless you have a written note from the authors saying that, although the bible is the word of God, they might have understood Him improperly or partially when it was dictated to them.

Here is a doctrinal contradiction for you.
The creation of Lucifer, by an All Knowing, Loving God.
These things cannot co-exist, doctrinally.
If God created Lucifer, because he didn't know how he would turn out, then he isn't all Knowing and the Bible is false.
If God Created Lucifer, knowing he would create sin and thus create the need for hell, in which millions of humans would be burned, then he isn't Loving and the Bible is false.
If God didn't create Lucifer, then he isn't the creator of all things, and the Bible is false.
In essence the bible teaches that God created sin, through the creation of Lucifer, it then goes on to assign blame to mankind through Eve's action of submitting to temptation. Disregarding the fact that she had no knowledge of good or evil, and couldn't have been equipped to stop the master of temptation from beating her. It also disregards the fact that an all knowing God would allow an ill-equipped human to be tempted in the first place. Doesn't that make God responsible for Sin?
Allowing a child without knowledge of right from wrong to be tempted into eating poison, doesn't seem like a loving thing to do, yet that is exactly what God did to Adam and Eve.
Try 1 Timothy 2:11-15 out.
It teaches that the way to salvation for women is through childbirth, as a direct result of what Eve did. This is contradictory to the teaching that we are saved through Christ's sacrifice. According to Paul, women are to be seen and not heard, and attaining salvation is different for them.
That is an ignored contradiction that is clear.

i wouldnt call them contradictions but inconsistancies and others are just false "facts", and hold on i will give u a few.
edit: sorry i dont have them book marked or anything i just have to go off memory so it might take me a few.
----------------------
Isaiah 14:12
How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!
(Lucifer is named morning star)
Revelation 22:16
"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star."
(Jesus calls himself morning star)
Genesis 1:3 - god creates night/day dark/light
Genesis 1:14-19 - god creates sun/moon
(you should know that day/night only exists because of the sun, and that a day only exists as a measure of the earths rotation)
Genesis 1:16 - bible calls the moon a light. (you should know that the moon is not a light either)
Revelation 7:1 - says there are four corners of the earth, claiming its flat. u know a sphere/circle has no corners.
Job 38:12-13 - talks about takign the earth by its edges. what spherical shapes do u know that have edges?

The first time I opened the bible I saw this one line in the psalms. Psalms 97:4 to be precise
For you, O Lord, are the sovereign king 1 over the whole earth; you are elevated high above all gods.
For you, O LORD, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods.
You, GOD, are High God of the cosmos, Far, far higher than any of the gods.
For you, Lord, are most high over the earth; you are lifted up over all other gods.
Here is MY question. WHO are the other GODS?? Why is the bible acknowledging other gods, if there is only One. just seems pretty weak to me. Almost like the satanic verses in Salmun Rushdie's novel.

Anyone can supposedly prove the contradictions wrong if they are willing to twist logic to ridiculous extremes or just make stuff up. I'm sure that you can prove the contradictions wrong according to your own opinions of what is logical and contradictory, but I sincerely doubt that you could "prove" every contradiction wrong to everyone's satisfaction. If that was possible, someone would have done it long ago - and no one has.

If I give you one would you promise to walk into your Church and testify that your bible is a false document?
Or would you just ignore it?
Only if you make it worth while and enforcible will I answer this.
If you are just going to make false claims about the literalness of the bible while you claim it as all true then there is no point answering.
I have been through this with people like you before.

When I get a chance, I'll look it up later, but the death of Judas is a contradiction. I believe one book of the bible declares he hung himself, while another states that he lept to his death in a "headlong" fashion.
I'll look it up later and give you the quotes, but the main part of this contradiction is that when hung by the rope, gravity forbids you to hang in a "headlong" or head-first fashion.

Try this one. There are several mentions of Nazarites and Nazarenes in the bible and they are a sect of people who do not cut their hair or beards, are scholars and are vegetarians. There has never been found any site or archaeological site for Nazareth. Jesus was never from Nazareth he was a Nazarite.
