I've never feared death. IMO it's a part of life.
There are certain ways I'd prefer to not die, but I can't say that I'm afraid of dieing either. When it's my time to go, I'll go. How it happens doesn't really matter - most likely in a couple of minutes it'll be over with anyway, so what's the point of worrying over something that in the grand scheme of things will be over in the blink of an eye. My concern is what happens after. How am I before God? What can I do here, before death, that will help me after I die? This life is SO short, and I have SO much to learn. I don't have time to think about how I'll die. I just know I will, and then afterwards comes the REAL living.

I don't fear death itself. Since I believe in Heaven and the aftelife, I have no reason to fear death.

I am afraid of what my family and friends will go through when I do die as well as what I might miss out on (new discoveries, technology, things I enjoy).

I do fear how I will die and would prefer to die in my sleep.

I think it's fear of the unknown mostly.
Even though I believe that I have eternal life through Christ Jesus, I still don't want to leave what I know here on Earth [my family, etc.]. I don't think Heaven is anything man can comprehend or explain, therefore, although it will be glorious [etc.], it is still an unknown compared to my current life.
I came close when I had cancer, and I was afraid my son [age 3 at the time] would have to grow up without a mommy.
Also, you bring up a good point about going in a gruesome manner. That would be scary too.

Well I don't know what happens after you die. Heaven? I really think it's just a place to make people feel better about their lost loved ones. Reincarnation? Possible but you'll never know...maybe the Dalai Lama got lucky picking all the right objects. Just dying and being dead? Well we know that so far so that's what I'm guessing what happens. That's why I'm a little afraid. I mean don't get me wrong I'm terrified to think of the way I may die but the thought of just your life ending and being no more and that's it...is a little mystifying. So maybe we die and then go to a parallel universe? That would explain ghosts and other things like that but we still aren't positive. We just won't know until it happens to us and there's no way to tell everyone what really happens when you do die so we'll just have to wait.

I fear my family dying or the effect my death could have on them. Other than that I I could care less.

Well it would be nice not to burn to death when I do go, but I'd get over it.

I do not fear death. But like you I do not want to burn. It seems so painful and awful. I hear drowning is not so bad. I think most people would like to die in their sleep.

I do not fear death, of course I do not want to die painfully but that has more to do with the pain then the death.
