I genuinely feel sorry for some of these people....LIberal Christians catch Hell from everyone...Fundies,Muslims,as well as other Atheists unfortunatley so let's appreciate the people that say "You're going to Hell but allow me to help you." and those that preach the LOVE of Christ not he intolerance of Yaweh.

*yes I realize I sound like a hippie but so be it!*

Imagine a band of heavily armed religious zealots out on a cruise who stumble upon a land of milk and honey. It is already owned by others but "God" told the zealots to slaughter all the inhabitants and steal their land and live in it. As time went on they grew and grew and stole more and more land and even brought slaves from far away places to work the land for them because they were to lazy to work it themselves. Eventually the fanatics divided from the motherland and created their own country. As the guns got bigger and better they took more and more land. To justify all this they named their victims "Insurgents" or "Terrorists" because "God" was on the fanatics side and everything they did was right. They even have a "Department of Justice". They even sing a little song
"This land is your land,
This land is my land,
This land was made for you and me."
So, in the name of "Justice", should the fanatics be required to return the land they stole?

such as carbon dating when talking about the Dead Sea Scrolls and equally as happy to cross reference the flood story with other religous faiths but when it comes to most other issues, their faith is the ONLY ONE that is correct and evolution is laughed at mainly?

they claim the bible is the truth because stories are similar, written by many different people over many different continents over a span of many years.

same thing with the beliefs of mermaids...

the only difference i see is that the stories with mermaids, the mermaids never claim that they exist as does god...

so i have to ask, why do christians deny the possibility of mermaids when they believe in god? what makes one myth hold truth while another doesnt? hmmmm?

We all know that lying is a sin according to the Bible-

but what if someone says something so STUPID and inherantly incorrect that it might as well have been a lie? Does that still fall under the category of "falsehoods"?

For example, The creationists feel that their answer is simpler than the answers provided by scientists, either side here could invoke Occam's Razor. How is this paradox resolved? Does it rely on opinions of what simplest means, or is there a subjective way to define simplest?

This i more of a philosophy question but that section is lame.

My friend sends me like 10 religious emails a day since she "found God". Incidentally I have already recieved these same ones over the years. so I asked her this:
"Just a curious question because I do not talk about religion with many people but Would you totally freak out if I told you that I was Atheist?"

Not sure if I was plain enough because here is what was sent back
"I would not freak out, I still love you and will always love you. God gives you that choice "
and then she sent me another "inspirational" message
Do I have to be mean and ask her to remove me or just keep on quietly deleting?
thanks for all your answers

I just asked a question if Heaven and Hell is fair, for those who answered that question with religious answers saying who follows Jesus will go to Heaven and non-belivers go to Hell. You think its fair to determine their fate just by religion?

Religious innovation means inventing a new way of worshipping Allah that was not originally included in the message revealed to Muhammad.

When a religious innovation is committed, it is generally felt that the innovator is assuming that the Quran and Sunnah is not good enough, that one must resort to something "better."

-Like, as a child, little boys experiment with each other....I know 6 little boys who I had that experience with...instigated by them...these 6 boys are now married to women
-67% of arrests made for public lewdness are of "heterosexual" married males..public restrooms, truck stops etc...
-in my early 20's when I was dating, I dated two men, who I learned later were married to women, and still are.
-adult book stores which are all over the city are frequented primarily by "heterosexual" men. they have back rooms called viewing booths, that have holes placed in specific areas and these "heterosexual" men "hook" up with each other there on a regular basis.
-I know a gay friend who is dating a "heterosexual" married man.
-most of these "heterosexual" men go to church.
-If all gay people one day would just stand up and say enough is enough...and then publish a book listing all of the names of the "straight" men who have gay sex...it may be an eye opener.

Your thoughts?

if you are directing your question to Christians ... can you not say " religious people "
because there are many more religions than just one

if you are directing your question to everyone outside of Christianity
can you not say " non believers "
because we all believe in something

just me ... tired of clicking on questions that I think are directed to me , only to find out that they aren't
it makes me sad :o(

anyone else irritated by this ?

........IS a Christian?
You'd think people would be more intelligent than that; than to be so gulible.
I guess they figure if it's negative, it supports their position, so they accept it............That's prettty hypocritical if you ask me.....but hey, that's the "world".

Many people on this site state that one is not born gay.

However, if you were born straight...how do you know?

Quite honestly, it is hard for me to imagine that someone could be born straight.

I have been attracted to dudes since as far back as I can remember, even before I knew what sexuality was...so, obviously, I was born this way...

Bottom line, God created me the way I am...sorry if that doesn't fit into your idea of your opinion of interpretation of the scriptures.

Anyway, serious question....if you are straight, as you say you are...how can you then say that someone is not born gay? You were born straight...right?

Totally true; check it out online if you don't believe me.

Will Geer, the actor who played Grandpa Walton on the much-beloved by Christians American television program the Waltons, was not only gay, but a member of the communist party. He met his lover, activist Harry Hay, while both were members of the party in the 1930's. Will you still watch the Waltons?
(I probably just started a nationwide boycott of Walton DVD's!)
