I don't like someone in my family, I mean I just don't like being around him or his wife. They put people over possessions, they are very snobby, they are rude to us and our kids, they tattle on us to other relatives for things like not sending a thank you note...

My problem is, they are an aunt and uncle to my kids, so I don't know if I can simply say "I never want to see you again". Also, I'm a Christian (as are they), so I don't know how much effort I am supposed to put forth!

I really don't want their influence around my kids, but if I stay completely away, I know that other members will look down on us.....

Does anyone have this issue, or what do you think is a good solution?

Thank you to all who have answered my first question. The answers gave me a lot to think about. But they made me think of another question... Some of the "non-believers" said that they are tired of the "Christians" shoving their beliefs down their throats (and I can understand that). But then why do the "non-believers" read and answer so many Religious & Spiritual questions? ( I'm really not trying to be ugly - I am truely curious)

Obviously this applies only to those who left something.

Habits may include anything from prayer to judgment to residual "awareness" of Gods/gods.

can I just clear something up and perhaps I speak for others here also
I am pro choice
I would never have an abortion personally
but I believe that the choice should be there for people who are in difficult circumstances
I also believe that this choice should not be made hastily or as means of birth control
I also believe that unless it is a life or death situation , that all abortions should be done within a set period of time

pro choice does not mean pro abortion

I said I felt that perhaps i speak for others... does anyone else feel the same here ?

people came to america for various reasons. one of the main ones was for the freedoms it offers.

why do we have so many people so quick to remove freedoms? notice all the thumbsdown people get for saying abortion should be a choice, or homosexual marriage/partnership should be accepted?

i mean seriously, if u guys dont like the freedom to choose why do you even live in the states?

note: seperation of church and state, yet the only arguments against homosexual marraige is religious...

why do people want so desperately to control the lives of others?

Here, in the religion section of Answers, we expect to have our ideas challenged. But in the world at large, people often don't like to defend or explain their beliefs; perhaps because they're not good at debate or because their faith is based more on visceral rather than logical reasons and is therefor hard to defend with logic. In other word, sometimes one's faith is personal or private in nature.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an agnostic and believe agnosticism is the only truly logical choice; given the more-than-meets-the-eye strangeness of reality revealed by quantum physics. A world defined by quantum probabilities that collapse to a single state UPON OBSERVATION. Human consciousness affects reality at the quantum level. With this element of the mystical revealed by quantum physics, the possibility of a cosmic God (not one of religion) seems more viable.

Many people seem to think that it's okay to challenge the beliefs of those who don't want to be challenged. Do you? And why?

Do you think we came from an animal? If you do , then which one and why?
Do you think God made us like we are?
Or maybe you have another theory.
Tell me what you think

Do any of you find this offensive? I was reading a book and it quoted the bible, saying this:

Revelation 21:8 "The corrupt, and murderers, and the immoral, and those who practice witchcraft, and idol worshipers, and all liars - Their doom is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur."

I looked this up in a bible my mom has (she's Christian, I'm wiccan), and it said the same thing. This, my friends, I find very offensive! I thought Christians were a welcoming religion! I'm sure the majority of us wiccans/pagans/witches would accept the Christians into our home!

Does anyone else find this bible passage offensive?

A couple of weeks ago i got some junk in the mail from a church in Oklahoma called Saint Matthews telling me they were told by God that I was having spiritualist issues, they said they would pray for me if I replied to them. The strange thing is I've been having a lot of doubts about who I am and what I believe, so i filled out their card and mailed it back to them, since that time I have received about 6 letters from them wanting me to Tithe them but Titheing was one of the Issues I had with the Catholic church in my past! Has anyone heard of these people or is it just another scam?
