Yes the final authoritative words come from Jesus in the new testament.
They first start with him talking about the ONLY rule in Christianity which is to love one another.
Then later on Paul came in and starting making up rules about this of that because of the difference between Gentiles and Jews, where he used essentially his interpretation as to what the rules were something that him and James (Jesus's brother) disagreed on.

Romans 10:4 Christ is the end of the Law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
Galatians 5:4 You who are trying to be justified by Law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. But by faith we eagerly await the righteousness for which we hope.
Galatians 5:16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.
Romans 8:5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
John 15:5 Abide in me and you shall bear much fruit.

The book of Leviticus was given to teach spiritual truths. The keynote of the book is holiness unto Jehovah. The Law was given to show people how guilty they are. We are prisoners of sin.
1. The way to God is by sacrifice and without the shedding of innocent blood, there can be no remission of sin. Animal sacrifices were an outward ritual which served only to remind people of their sins but had no real power to remove them.
**We have the blood of Christ as our atonement for sin once and for all for all people who believe.
2. The book teaches that the walk with God is by sanctification. God gave strict laws governing diet, social life, and daily details involving every physical aspect of the Hebrews lives.
**Those who are redeemed by the blood of Christ must live a holy life if they are to enjoy and worship God.
Leviticus shows us how God intends the human family to be involved with Him. God wants to get involved in your business, in your family life, and in your social life.
Worship today is no longer by ceremonial ritual or in a specific place. We worship in Spirit and in truth. The new covenant consists not of a written law, but of the Spirit. The written law brings death, but the Spirit gives life.
Again, Jesus fulfilled the Law, therefore, when you believe and accept Jesus as your Savior, you are made righteous through Him and your relationship with God is reconciled. That is the final authority.

Honey: New Testament Christians are no longer bound by the "curse" of the law (Leviticus). Jesus came to fulfill the requirements of the law and to enact a new covenant with us. Those who are in Jesus are no longer under the law and so it no longer has bearing on us. By the way, I LOVE some pork BBQ ribs just about now. UMMM.
I love your avatar. If you are as cute as it I send you a big kiss.

The Old Testament Law , including the laws in Leviticus do not apply to us today, because we are living in the dispensation of Grace. Therefore, we are to relate to God according to the doctrines laid out for our present age. Now that the Messiah is here, He is our intercessor to God.

Much of Leviticus is types and models pointing to the Messiah--the Lamb of God who was to come. The seven feasts listed in Leviticus are prophetic as well. The first three represent His first coming, the fourth represents the church, the last three represent His second coming.

The overall thrust of Leviticus is that we are all sinners, and only by the shedding of blood is there remission of sin. That is the crux of the New Testament as well. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. But the blood of Christ cleanses us from ALL sin.

We are under the new covenant. Christianity does not stand on the Laws in Leviticus.

Christianity is a highly-divided religion. There are nearly no say-all end-all's, in exception of two things:
1) Christ is our Lord and Savior
2) Jesus died for our sins
