The Scriptures, in stating, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Ge 1:1), leave matters indefinite as to time. This use of the term “beginning” is therefore unassailable, regardless of the age scientists may seek to attach to the earthly globe and to the various planets and other heavenly bodies. The actual time of creation of the material heavens and earth may have been billions of years ago.
Toward the end of the sixth day of creative activity, God brought into existence a creature, superior to the animals though lower than the angels. This was Man, created in God’s image and after his likeness.
The Bible does not specify the length of each of the creative periods. Yet all six of them have ended, it being said with respect to the sixth day (as in the case of each of the preceding five days): “And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, a sixth day.” (Ge 1:31)
However, this statement is not made regarding the seventh day, on which God proceeded to rest, indicating that it continued. (Ge 2:1-3)
That a day can be longer than 24 hours is indicated by Genesis 2:4, which speaks of all the creative periods as one “day.” Also indicative of this is Peter’s inspired observation that “one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.” (2Pe 3:8) Ascribing not just 24 hours but a longer period of time, to each of the creative days better harmonizes with the evidence found in the earth itself.
However, as to the creation of Man, Adam and Eve were created toward the end of the sixth creative “day.” (Ge 1:24-31)
There are no actual records of ancient man, his writing, agriculture, and other pursuits, extending into the past before 4026 B.C.E., the date of Adam’s creation.
Since the Scriptures outline man’s history from the very creation of the first human pair, there can be no such thing as “prehistoric man.” Fossil records in the earth provide NO link between man and the animals.
Therefore the corrct veiw is that while the Earth it's self could be Billions of years old, Man has been around for just over 6,000 years, and we are still in God seventh "day" of rest.

a resourceful day is a quantity of time not a literal day climate 24 hours or a one thousand years. it somewhat is indicated while describing that on the seventh day God rested, in this time while guy sinned and & the 6th resourceful day ended Gen 3:15, God's 1st prophecy is decreed. The exciting factor approximately this 1st prophecy while examined is that a one thousand year reign might would desire to happen beforehand the seventh resourceful day ends, this would point out a resourceful day is 7000 years. all of us understand looking documented dates that 1975 could be understood as 6000 years in view that Adam became created, what we don't understand is how some years became in contact between Eve's advent, Adam sinning and the commencing of the seventh resourceful day. yet enable's contemplate this, all the heavenly advent is familiar with of those dates yet Jesus himself stated no person is familiar with the day nor the hour while the tip comes, only the father, Jesus' Father is familiar with so no you could nonetheless use any form of years as to what, why or while. A stress which could create the solar and each factor else can't be scrutinized with the aid of imperfect guy as to "time spans" or the lengths of time, it somewhat isn't what's at problem yet as long as devil can save you arguing approximately dates and cases the weighty concerns of God's regulations break out you and while the tip does come you will say you have been on no account advised while all you somewhat would desire to do is pay attention to the message Jehovah's Witnesses are preaching from door to door throughout the time of the inhabited earth(Matthew 24:14)

Hi,
You've asked an excellent question. Not every Bible reader believes that the universe is only 6K old. Many of us believe that it is in fact very very old...even into the billions of years. Many Christian scholars feel there is a "Gap" of time between Genesis 1 and 2 that could in fact be billions of years of time. Light travels only so fast, and that measurement can be accurately calculated, so I'll agree this place is pretty old....much older than 6K. You may want to do some research on the Gap Theory to see what some of us other Christians believe.

Lets ask a question closer to home. If the universe is only 6000 years old then why are we digging up ice core samples that have Hundreds of Thousands of layers? One layer for each year the sample represents.

Ask the person that told you the 6000 year story to explain why.Bet they end up saying because of the bible and your expected to never question them again. The church says 6000 years and the bible is vague and Jesus didn't say, so you have to figure out yourself.

Or even 13.275 billion light years away? Hmmm, must be another trick of an omnipotent being, trying to test our beliefs again.

2nd Law of Thermodynamics, plus it says in the Bible that God stretched out the sky.
Isa 42:5 Thus says God, the LORD, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it:
2nd Law of thermodynamics proves that all that comes into existence slowly goes corrupt/dies. (time has slowed down)
In this same concept, we have successfully managed to identify that time used to be millions of times faster than it is running right now. So it is easy that these things could happen.
Pretend you put a bunch of dots on a balloon, and then you stretch it out really far, they move away from the focal point.

Apparently God set up millions of years' worth of light emanating from each star and galaxy, designed to make it *look* as though they're older.
No, really!
