This narrow part is opposite to the broad wide road which lead to destruction and many find it.
With the narrow path there is also the gate..you enter through the gate to walk on this narrow path...this path leads to life.... even as believers we need to be careful that we are walking on the narrow path.. this path does not have room for anything else on it but a walk that is according to and BY the Spirit of God.
This is a walk that has no room for our flesh or the natural man or the old man.. worldliness but its a walk that corresponds with the Life of God within your spirit.
It sort of parallels the " street of gold " in the New Jerusalem which is One street made of Gold .. Gold in the Bible signifies God's divine nature.. So its not a literal street but it shows us as believers that our walk in life has to be according to God's Nature in us. We have been made to be partakers of the Divine Nature and it is this Nature of God in us that governs and regulates our walk inwardly rather than by outward regulation and ordinances.
Its not a matter of how many walking this path but on IF you're walking the narrow path...we each have a race to run... may it be on this narrow path through the grace and strength of the Lord Jesus Christ...

Unfortunately, a narrow path is all that is needed, since more people will not make it to Heaven due to their prideful selves refusing to believe in something that their finite minds cannot handle. This is why it is called the narrow path, versus the wide path to hell. It shows a comparison between the believers and nonbelievers. The narrow path is big enough for anyone opening their heart's door to Jesus. It is a warning from The Lord for those who scoff at Jesus, heaven and hell. God wants that none should perish, but would have everlasting life with Him in Heaven. We who choose to walk with Jesus shall walk with Him on that narrow path to Heaven!

Right single-file, the same way sheep are led (sometimes in twos).
Besides, if there is a narrow path most people walk around looking for a wider one.

wow, so many like minded answers....
single file is the way to go. you see when we put out own desires and wants behind us and look to put God and others first-- we don't mind walking behind another. we have no more arrogance or pride - we are all going in the same direction.

It's a figure of speach. All it really means is that the path is less popular.

It can't. And they don't get it.
He was trying to tell them that most of them are in for a big surprise because they did NOT do what he told them to do.
