can I just clear something up and perhaps I speak for others here also
I am pro choice
I would never have an abortion personally
but I believe that the choice should be there for people who are in difficult circumstances
I also believe that this choice should not be made hastily or as means of birth control
I also believe that unless it is a life or death situation , that all abortions should be done within a set period of time
pro choice does not mean pro abortion
I said I felt that perhaps i speak for others... does anyone else feel the same here ?

I have battled with that question for years. If my daughter was raped, would I suggest an abortion? If a child got impregnated through incest, would I suggest an abortion?
I've been saved for 8 years and this is one of the battles I still struggle with. I believe it is something that only an individual can make and not society as a whole.

I think that abortion is something that is a personal choice and nobody but the woman concerned should have a say in it. Certainly men have no right even expressing an opinion about this as it is none of their business whatsoever. I do not think that a woman's choice to have an abortion makes her any less of a person than anyone else. These things have been done and widely accepted since the beginning of time using herbs which are extremely effective and no big fuss was ever made about it. Why should it be any different now?

I agree and I was also in that life or death situation and had an abortion. Now, I never thought I would have an abortion, but you never truly know until you're in that type of situation. However, and this was years and years ago, there was a girl there having her 8th abortion. She was there with her mother and she didn't look very old at all. Why she wasn't on birth control was beyond me, but neither did I know her circumstances. Maybe she couldn't be on birth control due to other medications she took. That was my problem, steriods wiped out the effect of birth control pills. Anyway, you can feel one way and then once you're in that predicament, change your mind. We should never be set in our ways anyway...there's no room for growth otherwise.

Yes i absolutely agree with everything you've said here..and i have always been of this opinion....
In a church i used to attend, the pastors wife chose to have an abortion because she had cancer...the pastor and his wife made the very difficult decision together..but i can tell you the pastor wanted his wife to live because they already had two beautiful children..i believe they made the correct decision..isn't it better to still have a wife and mother, than to have three children without a mother...
We all have to make tough choices..the worst i think is whether to give birth to a baby or choose to end the baby's life..personally i wish everyone would butt out of other peoples lives on this one..and mind their own business...yes a baby has a right to life, but there are situations that call for the bigger picture to be considered..
So well said P.......i don't think i need to speak of this again..for me you have covered every point..and thank you...
Shalom

Not that anybody gives a toss, but I'm not anti abortion. I've lived in a country where it was illegal, and I've seen the mess such a situation causes to so many.
I reckon both the US and UK would be a lot better off if more were carried out. Too many people reject the option because of the terrible stigma that has been attached to the process, and the result is a lot of unloved and unhappy children; and young women whose lives' promise is turned to drudgery and poverty.

that's great. i've learned that there are certain things within our shere we need to control and not within the shere of others. i wouldn't want anyone killing my baby but that's me. there is a type of person that would kill babys with no remorse but are also those that aren't (or ain't, lol). that's a big subject on morality that would take a long time to address. i guess i have a balanced stance on abortion. the truth is whatever we do will come back to us. that's just how the universe operates...

That's the problem with labels and slogans, isn't it?
'Pro Choice' so often seems to boil down to 'the woman should have the choice over what happens to her own body.' That's OK as far as it goes, but it doesn't always seem to go as far as asking the father and the foetus, who ought surely to have at least some say in the matter!
'Pro Life' so often seems to be an absolutist position in the other direction, as if there were no possible circumstances in which an abortion might be justified.
Because I'm a big softy, I'm biased in favour of babies, especially since those who are big enough to make them usually have enough nous not to unless they really want to! And I do distrust absolutist positions whichever end of the spectrum they set up camp!
If only we could get away from a world that sticks labels and shouts slogans!

I think it's high time they had a referendum on abortion and settle the issue.
I think the referendum should only be open to women as men will never have to face this problem, so why should they have a say in the question. Oh by the way I am a man so I wouldn't get a vote

I am pro-choice also. I believe that a woman can decide whether to terminate a pregnancy is a virtuous deed or not on her own. No woman needs me to tell her how to conduct her life... at least, not that I'm aware of. The information is out there and the alternatives are pretty much out there as well... so I only educate or point to alternatives as needed. The final decision rests with the woman in question.

I like the way you said that and you and I think similarly on this; religiously
Politically -- I also think that this is an issue left to the states and not the FED. GOVT. so I would be in favor of overturning Roe v. Wade. I would then not be opposed to state laws on the matter as a rule
