Should you share your view and move on...or should you continue to "present your side"?

Especially, in relation to social issues like homosexuality. It may be your view that it is wrong and sinful. However, there are many denominations that are taking a different look at homosexuality and/or the condemnation of such and coming to different conclusions. Please don't tell me these are not Godly churches..as they are Methodist, Church of Christ, Episcopalians, some independent Baptists, and many more.

Why can't both sides agree to disagree and move on? You think it is sin, others do not.

If it is a sin in your eyes, do not commit it. Plain and simple.

Why do you continue to condemn people based on your opinion of interpretation of scripture....especially, when you know that others have differing opinions?

This is an issue solely between the two consenting adults and their God....not you...and as such, these people should have all the same civil and legal rights.

in the catholic religion, there are priests that can't marry and can't have sex right? but can they masturbate?

it makes no sense to me, they must get randy and masturbate, so why can't they just have sex? you hear about it all the time, priests raping young children. is it truly right to say to a man you can never have sex? and god only knows if they can masturbate.

does no one else see how messed up this world is?

Okay, I'm an atheist, but even I have to admit, I've yet to see a Christian created thread created soley to insult atheists, yet I see my fellow atheists attacking Christians all the time. I actually saw a thread titled "Why are Christians so freakin' stupid." Is that really helping our cause? Seriously, why all the attacks on Christians?

Have blocked someone because they are not of the same belief system as you?

I understand blocking people that are annoying though personally I block no one. I am talking about blocking them because of their beliefs only.

Read the historical facts. Churches that believe the fundamental doctrines below have existed since the time of Jesus Christ, when he founded the first church with the apostles.

These churches were never a part of the Catholic church or any other church but have always existed from the time Jesus Christ founded them, therefore they did not come about in the Protestant Reformation and cannont be called Protestant either.

Where can we find this church today?

I am not talking about the virgin birth. Father, son and the holy ghost existed long before genesis. The son is the next generation and should not be an equal of the father. How did God beget his son? When we talk about babies, we mean sexual reproduction: meiosis, gametes, zygote, etc. But there is no female counterpart. Is God a hermaphrodite? Or did God repoduce asexually, like a hydra?

I tried asking this earlier but never saw it show up on the board.

What is your opinion on whether someone who is self-dedicated (i.e. not Initiated into a Coven) can call themselves "Wiccan"?

The reason I ask is after reading several discussions on different boards, I'm leaning away from referring to myself as "Wiccan" and I'm trying to figure out of the BTWs are right, after all...

I have twice. Twice in my life I've been in a near-death experience through a flare up of a defect (internal) with which I was born. I had developed peritonitis through intestinal blockages this defect caused, since I am especially vulnerable to this condition.
Yet, Twice the angel of death, but with Mercy appeared to tell me I wasn't to die because there were pending certain responsibilities I'd have to attend to in my life.
The first Angel came in my sleep as the voice of my favourite uncle who'd died several months before this event.
The next angel appeared, ILLUMINATING the corner of my hospital room. So Bright was He, that as I was being given the last rites . . His Light assured me, that I would not die!
I am sincerely curious, but through great detail from any of you interested, if and when you had been visited by this Angel of death, and yet of Live prolonging Mercy appearing to you. What was your reaction. What was learned from such supernatural apparition?
No jokes, please!

Heres the story. My finace and i have both been brought up in the Catholic church. Now i must admit , over the years we grew to a point where we both felt that we were not getting anything out of it. So we started going to other churches. Some of them were great , some were too political in ways. Lately , we've been attending a local Church here in town , and its good. But , i at the same time have been feeling , or should i say , feeling led , with the inclination of going back to Catholic Church. Some of her friends and a former Pastor of our say that if i do , then we would be " Unequally Yoked". In my understanding of that , i thought it had to do with a believer being with a non believer. She says if i do , then i should consider the relationship over. I personally feel its wrong , we are on the same level , just different Churches.

As you guys may have noticed from my other questions, I have not necessarily decided what belief system I feel best about. I am learning every day from people like you guys. So, let's say I realize some day that atheism is the correct way of thinking. Now, I'm suddenly faced with the (in my opinion) awful, terrible truth that when we die, we die, and that's it. How do you deal with this? How do you come to terms with that finality and go on living your life without being in fear that it could be over at any moment, or that someone you love will be gone at any moment, and you will never see or hear from them again? Please do not take offense to this.. I am asking objectively.

The Light? or The Dark?

2007-06-28 10:32:18 · 28 answers · asked by Anonymous

If a "sin" does not affect your life, or the life of an innocent...why are you concerned with it?

If you are truly concerned about bringing people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ...wouldn't you reach more people by showing them the face of God rather than the backhand of judgment?

By alienating and ostracizing those you disagree with, are you being like Jesus? Whom did Jesus break bread with? Didn't he befriend Zaccheus, a tax collector. Didn't he free the adulterous woman in John 8.

Doesn't God tell us not to judge others? Matthew 7, John 8...in addition to many more.

Aren't we called as Christians to serve the less fortunate...the poor, hungry, widows and orphans? So, why are we not doing that?

I guess there is more attention to be had in picketing gay pride parades than there is working in a soup kitchen.

Your thoughts?

I think probably the main argument that I hear against the theory of evolution is that no one has ever seen evolution in action. However, there are lots of things that scientists don't see but have good reason to believe that they are true. Take atoms for example. No one has ever seen an atom but there is lots of good indirect evidence that atoms exist. The atomic bomb and nuclear energy show that although we can't see atoms, we still have a pretty good understanding of what an atom is and looks like. No one has ever seen gravity, however there is pretty good indirect evidence that gravity exists. The same goes for evolution. No one has ever seen evolution, but there is lots of good indirect evidence, like the fossil record and changes in gene frequency that evolution is a real phenomenon. How come religious types don't protest the teaching of gravity and atoms even though we have never seen either, but they do protest evolution for that reason????
