If a "sin" does not affect your life, or the life of an innocent...why are you concerned with it?

If you are truly concerned about bringing people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ...wouldn't you reach more people by showing them the face of God rather than the backhand of judgment?

By alienating and ostracizing those you disagree with, are you being like Jesus? Whom did Jesus break bread with? Didn't he befriend Zaccheus, a tax collector. Didn't he free the adulterous woman in John 8.

Doesn't God tell us not to judge others? Matthew 7, John 8...in addition to many more.

Aren't we called as Christians to serve the less fortunate...the poor, hungry, widows and orphans? So, why are we not doing that?

I guess there is more attention to be had in picketing gay pride parades than there is working in a soup kitchen.

Your thoughts?

I'm with you G, Too many people are looking outside when they should be looking in. It was said by Jesus that you must first take the board out of your own eye before you try taking the splinter out of someone Else's. Some people get all caught up in themselves, thinking they can save someone when Jesus already did that. I say people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Some make Judgments when we are told not to judge anyone.

You are the one being judgmental and casting the stones. All you have done was quoted to us a bunch of scriptures from the bible, and pointed out somethings that God said that we should do, or shouldn't do, and then you falsely accused all Fundamentalist Christians of doing them when we should not, or not doing them when we should. Like Propaganda. Well, sorry Guy, all my kids are con artist too and so I am used to this. You'll have to try this one on someone else I suppose. Now what are you trying to cover up?

Not all Christians are like the ones that you are trying to help with this question. I don't judge others and neither do many people. We care about you sinning because we care about you. You are our brother or sister and we love you. We don't want you to go to Hell, and we certainly don't wish you too Hell. Yes we are to do as Jesus would have done and I do not have the right to determine weather you should go to Heaven or Hell. That is God's decision and His decision alone. Our God is a forgiving and caring God and He truly wants you to come to Him. He will take care of you and love you like a father. I hope you realize that not all "Christians" are the ones picketing a gay pride parade, but instead the ones working in a soup kitchen along with many others.

As one of these Christians, I will tell you that I think you're trying to turn Christianity and the Bible into your own personal salad bar.

Don't just condense it all down to Matthew 7:1.

I think the type of judgment you and other people have the impression of is to condemn by saying that you have the power to send people to Hell for eternity, and actually will carry out that sentence. That would be an arrogance without equal - by setting yourself above God.

But if you're talking about what's set forth in the Bible *by* God, its not judgment to accept what is said about certain sins at face value and let people know this.

Remember, we are all supposed to be concerned with the welfare of people in this world and the next. To say that we shouldn't be concerned unless it affects us personally is hardly Christian at all.

Divorce isn't a existence type, it somewhat is a tragedy. have not I defined this to you beforehand? Christian pastors, preachers, and counselors, do certainly talk out against divorce. somewhat, the place our concentration would desire to be is on premarital counseling. maximum folk make the blunders of marrying outdoors of God's will, looking forward to marriage to be a on no account ending honeymoon. while this proves fake they're unwell arranged for the realities of marriage and seek for the direction of least resistance that's divorce. notwithstanding it somewhat is a sin, it somewhat is forgivable, to be divorced isn't a existence type, this is the end results of ending a marriage. working in direction of homosexuality is a existence type. It too, could be forgiven would desire to one turn faraway from it. Being as you declare to be gay and intend to attack the fundies, I assemble you do not attend fundemenalist church homes, subsequently you have not any theory of what's being spoken on.

I agree with you, I am not a religious person, but I feel I live my life more the way it is supposed to done than some of these fundamentalists.

I enjoy helping raise money for my various causes such as AIDS research, helping buy school supplies for less fortunate children in my area schools, raising money for the local domestic violence shelter and just giving when I can.

Edit:
Bobby Jim isn't going to hell (if you believe it exists) or not my choice and nobody else's business

Sin in your life DOES effect me because we are all member of teh human race and we are all connected to each other. This is why we rejoice in the sucess of others and we grieve at the loss of others. You did not have to have someone die in the World Trade center on 9/11 in order to be deeply effected by that tragedy.

Yes, I think you can bring more people to Christ by being Christ to them, but there is the duty to guide others in the path of righteousness when they sin. This needs to be done with gentleness, patience, and respect for the other person.

There is a subtle difference between "You are going to hell for doing that" and "What you are doing could lead to serious harm to your soul".

Many Christians ARE serving the less fortunate. An example would be project Hopebags - http://www.hopebags.com I know many individuals that are part of this outreach project to the homeless.

I am not concerned about sins that don't affect me or mine. I won't give an account for their sins, I WILL give one about mine.
Homosexuality concerns me, as it is being taught to MINE as a viable alternative to hetrosexuality. This teaching is contrary to my own personal beliefs as well as my spiritual beliefs. An attept to "condition" my kids into believing this lie, is a direct infrigements on my basic human right to practice my religion and teach my children my religion.
As for abortion, same applies. Sex Ed teaches that this is another option, God says "I knew you BEFORE you were formed in your mother's womb"... teaching my children this CAN affect my life, my children ARE my life.
As for your verse.... There's more to it.."Judge not LEST you be judged yourself, for by what measure you judge you too will be judged"
And let me introduce you to another verse.. you might like.." 1 Corinthians 2:15: The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment."
If the Lord judges me on making a judgement about something like abortion (murder) or homosexuality, which is clearly wrong, according to scripture... I won't mind Him (God) using the measure I judged back on me. It was a necessary judgement.
You can't go judging randomly when you have a bunch of unconfessed win in your own life. So it's better to remove your LUMBER yard before pointing out a splinter, and remain human with folks.
I do make a point of helping others, donating and feeding people in my community. That's what we are called to do.
You can state your position on SIN without someone thinking you hate them. That is what we are called to do. Remember God saved the prostitute and after He did that what did He tell her? "Go and sin no more"... it's our obligation to help save souls, not make people comfy in sin.
Have a blessed one! =)

Because Fundamentalist Christians are fundamentalist, they are Christians, not Christ followers!*
