Have blocked someone because they are not of the same belief system as you?

I understand blocking people that are annoying though personally I block no one. I am talking about blocking them because of their beliefs only.

I asked because I found that I was blocked by someone and frankly I was shocked. I do my best to conduct myself in a respectful manner while visiting this forum.
I think the blocking way will become a way for some to form exclusive communities.

I have not done that. but there are some fundamental christian churches that teach not to be friends with non-believers. or people that are not ¨saved¨or members of their church. although the bible does not teach that.

I have a somewhat different point of view from most of those responding here.

I block a LOT of people. Frequently because of how they choose to *express* their differing religious beliefs. If someone starts "witnessing" and buybull thumping in response to a question that didn't invite that response . . . they're blocked. Period. Not because of their religion, but because of their MANNERS. And probable lack of reading ability! How hard is it to just answer a freakin' question like a normal human being?

Look, I've been active on the internet, elists and bbs and forums and now Y!A, for many years. I'm the Admin of a heathen forum, and have been a moderator on Beliefnet and numerous Yahoo and Network54 groups. Here's the deal:

1. Most weird people don't know they're weird.
2. Just because someone has a right to talk doesn't mean I have an obligation to listen.
3. Their content doesn't disappear. I just get a block symbol next to their name in my boardview. Blocking is a handy reminder of who's been an a**hat.
4. Time's valuable. I choose not to waste mine.
5. Not all trolls live under bridges.

I haven't blocked anyone due to their belief structure. Everyone has a right to their own beliefs or lack thereof and to block someone that I don't personally agree with would make me a hypocrite.

I have, however, blocked people for extreme rudeness, for which I do not feel there is any excuse.

I have never blocked anyone but I can understand why some do. Meanness and rude remarks should not have to be tolerated. I have many friends that have been harassed by people because of their beliefs and I think that is so very wrong.

Because of their beliefs only? No one. Because they post troll questions, and those who respond start having their accounts closed? You bet.

At one time, I didn't block anyone. Felt wrong. Now I watch for those vendetta questions (which usually contain more than a pinch of personal attack in them), and block the poster. They aren't interested in the answers given; they're hunting. They can't handle what they dish out, so they use trolling as a means of suspending or deleting accounts and comments. As a result, I now use the block function.

I have noticed that many have blocked me
they seem to be fundies
but I dont know all of them by name
which i find strange
so it must be due to my beliefs

I havent blocked anyone myself though
because if I block them , then I cant see their questions
which isnt always a good thing

Not me. I have two people blocked. One who is a known reporter of innocent posts, and one who sent me a love letter.

I would never block someone just for having different beliefs from my own.

I block people who are just too stupid or rude to tolerate. All of them have been Christians and they have been blocked because of how they talk to others - - so YES. I have blocked two people because of the way they talk to others about their faith.

I can honestly say that i've never blocked anyone. Though, I am uncertain if anyone has blocked me. Is there a way to find out?

I don't have much of a belief system, so no. But I did block one for being annoyingly preachy. And also, to see how it works.

i've never blocked anyone.

i respect other people's beliefs. this doesn't mean i agree with them or won't debate them. but i'm not so petty as to block people just because they believe something different from me.
