I was born straight in that I am attracted to people from the opposite sex. I believe that people are born gay.
My friends son (Robert) was 15 years younger than me and I and other friends suspected that he was going to be gay. He was always effeminate, it was not 'leaned behaviour'. He was raised in a normal household at a time when it was not fashionable to be gay. I used to see him come home from school having taken a beating for being 'different'. I watched him flinch as other boys called him terrible names. He actually 'came out' when he was 18 to his Mum, she came across to me in tears, asked me to sit down and said Robert had just told her he was gay. I sat waiting for the revelation and that was it, his Mum had never seen it.
Robert is a wonderful, sensitive caring person who I watched grow up and I am here to tell you that he was born gay. If you could choose, would you really pick such a tough road full of bigots for your life.
It is not for us to judge, we need to leave that to God. I think a person with Roberts qualities will find it easier to get into the gates of heaven than a hetero sexual bigot who has beaten people up and sat in judgement on others their whole lives.
Being gay does not make you a paedophile either. Gay people like the vast majority of people, want willing adult partners for a consensual relationship..

This is something that I personally struggle with all the time. You have a great point though. I am a Christian and wonder about the whole born or became gay thing. I personally beleive that people can be born gay along with it being something that they choose. I don't understand and haven't really researched much into it, but the bottom line for me is that even though I don't agree with it, it isn't my place to judge. it is a very hard topic that a lot of people are very emotional about.

You are,and we do know that. The hormonal pattern is very clear within the first year. It is biology; it is not the result of social conditioning, still less of any presumed moral choice. It is a normal human variant. This is not a question of opinion. You are born gay or born straight. The fact that homosexuals may in their youth absorb a kind of pseudo-heterosexuality from their social environment is meaningless. The fact that many heterosexual youths pass through a phase of adolescent homosexuality is also meaningless. These are not moral issues, except in terms of licentious behavior - but that we condemn irrespective of biological orientation. I simply do not understand the continuing debate. For me as a Catholic Pope Paul VI made these points entirely clear.

Well, hard as this may be to believe, some of us straights actually take the time to make friends who happen to be gay and eventually bring ourselves to ask uncomfortable questions like "Why are you gay?" and "When did you first notice you were gay?" so that, even though we started out ignorant, we don't spend the rest of our lives that way. I have never been degraded or abused for sincerely trying to learn about other people. I have gotten a single answer: Gays, straights, bisexuals and asexuals all are born with their sexual identities.

There is something even more disturbing about this assumption.
Those that refuse to accept that some are born gay then assume the person is made to turn gay. So therefore they must find a culprit.
Blame this, blame that, blame everything so long as you don’t have to face reality.
Every gay person I have ever discussed this with believes they were born gay. Why won’t people listen to those who actually know what they are talking about – gay people?
Who are the experts on being gay if not gay people themselves?

I never decided to be straight. Just one day in school, I realized that Sue looked a lot better to me than Tom did. When the hormones started gushing and I wanted to do something about the difference, I again thought of Sue. Tom was on his own. There is nothing you could say or do that would make a homosexual relationship sound good to me.
I suppose the opposite of all this would be true of a homosexual male. I never decided to be straight. I doubt if anybody ever decided to be gay.
When did anybody ever decide to be left handed?

No one is born gay as its a sin, and culdnt be a sin if we had NO CHOICE. Becoming gay is from living in a life of destruction or curses from self of others. How do we know you arent born Gay, as thats what God says, How do we know if we are born straight, God says so and we surely just know it. Many have been delivered from the curse of homosexuality, so that means it can be healed . If even just one were healed, then its possible and there are ppl all over that have had healing and deliverance over this powerful lust. God is quick to forgive , but one must ask. You must ask for healing and want it . most have such a powerful lust they dont really want to give it up, so it stays. When one really knows it is wrong and wants it to go they will let Jesus deliver them from the curse and be set free, and oh yes this happens every day. Homosexuality is a sin, and so is adultry, or lying or stealing. We arent created to be that way, this comes from the lies of the devil. science that opposes the teachings of God is false. Thats Biblical. So I guess you would have to want more to be saved than you do to hold onto the lust, and then go for help and ask and receive it in the name of Jesus. But Jesus loves you the same as me, He loves us all . and so eager to forgive, BUt all must obey Him to be saved and set free. period. no matter what the sin is
I pray you will find this healing and before its too late. God is a mighty powerful God and can do anything, if you really want it. Do you want that? Or are you just mocking us that tell you truth, cuz you dont want to hear it. Only God knows.

The idea that "God made me this way" is not right. We are all born in sin, God didn't make us that way...we did.
But because we are born with an inclination towards sin and selfish desire, that does not justify sin. Jesus calls us away from sin and towards the Father.
Being homosexual is a trial, a cross. Just as others have their own crosses to bear. We cannot justify sin no matter how much we want to.
Homosexuality is a perversion, just as pornography is, bisexuality, sex outside of marriage, and pedophila. There are many sexual perversions that people are inclined towards...doesn't make them okay. Sorry.
Being born that way does not let you off the hook for being required to turn from sin.

It is a choice.
Two reasons: one, God condemns it all the time and so it can not be from God and is therfore a sin. Two, from a biological viewpoint why would it make sense for people to be gay, that in no way helps a species survive because reproduction becomes a whole hell of a lot harder that way.

I heard that there are straight, bi, gay, and ppl in who are between.
I think this could be part of the reason behind the whole stupid idea that's it's by choice.
