Lets say that the conversation was deep, and about her having an abortion because she found out that the fetus was a tubal and life threatening and her boyfriend jesus(he happens to be mexican) is married, what if the conversation went as is:

her: "but jesus told me that he didn't want me to have an abortion"
me: "why listen to what jesus has to say?"
her: "but he said that he loved me"
me: "right...i'll believe that one when pink monkeys fly out of me ********"
her: "giggles"
me: "giggles"

**
I personally, wouldn't have this conversation with my girlfriend out in public, but for the sake of this question, lets just say we did.

I see some of the responses from Y/A on the Bible and it is evident that these people have never opened up the Bible. Those that have, already have a preconceived opinion about it which is unscientific. Everything they say is based on what they learned from some unbelieving academic, who probably did his studies on commentaries on the Bible, rather than on the Bible and certainly didn't have a relationship with God.

Let me remind my readers that the Bible was not written to prove anything, it was written to already believing people. If God started off trying to prove His existance it would have been absurd

So what do you think is an authority on the Bible?

An atheist theologian?

Since the beginning of time man has always tried to figure out it's purpose and significance.

There has always been a belief in some sort of God (not all people).

Why is it so important?

Hello there, and thank you for answering my question. I have actually three interesting questions. How do we know that the:
A.) Romans soldiers
B.) Disciples
C.) The Jews (i.e. Pharisees)

Didn't steal the body of Jesus. A couple of things I would like to note before you give me your answer. I am trying to be VERY objective, and would also like your responses after you read this. The roman guard, or Jewish guard, whatever you beleive the guard was made up of, probably consisted of atleast 10-30. That is no joke. Now let's admit, the disciples were cowards. They fled at just the SIGHT of soldiers coming to arrest Jesus. I don't think this band of cowardly weenies (yes weenies) would even dare to fight a well armed, well trained, guard. The soldiers couldn't have gone to sleep because under Roman military law, soldiers sleeping on the job would be killed. Even had they been zzz , the disciples trying to move the boulder would have produced alot of noise. It weighed thousands of lbs.

Sense I was a kid, I would question God. I never really believe stories at Sunday school and in Church. I even was afraid to take the Lord's name in vain. Then one day I got mad and said," F$#k God." I cried because I thought I was going to die. Nothing happenend. From that day on, I took his name in vain all the time. I questioned him more and more as the years have gone by. I even find myself defending people that don't believe in God. Its not like I believe in evolution because that can't really be proved either but there is more proof than what Christianity has. (all it has is mass delusion) But, I still kind of do believe in him. Out of fear. Im afraid to deny him even though at this point, with all the questioning, Im going to hell. I think the bible is total B.S.on one of its highest degrees. But I still follow it lessons. I dont really care if is a God or not but if there is want to believe in him but I cant bring myself believe in to what I think is a lie.

This is also for mainstream Christians who've taken a close look at JW theology. Don't just quote all the theological differences. Was it a particular book that pointed it out? A talk with a priest, minister, friend? A specific Bible verse you interpreted differently?

10 billion year life expectancy. As stars get older, they also get brighter. Our sun is supposedly 40% brighter than it was 4.6 billion years ago. If we go back 3.5 billion years to when life supposedly first started, the sun would have been 25% bright than it is now. The sun being less bright, also means less heat was produced. This less heat would have lowered the temperature of the earth from an average 59 degrees to an average below freezing.
Can anyone explain how life would have started with average temperatures below freezing?

I go to church every Sunday, but fully acknowledge my relationship with God needs major work. My fear is that I won`t fix my relationship with Him to his satisfaction and end up in Hell as a result. Because of that, I fear death.

Does it ever annoy you when people put emphasis on "God", "Lord", "Jesus", "Hell", "Satan", etc.? I find it annoying because I already know what they're talking about. No reason to practically yell "Lord" at me.

It seems that most Abrahamists today do not take the bible as literal and insist on interpreting the truths present within as opposed to taking it at its word for an absolute account of reality?

Did the authors of all of these seperate books intend their accounts to be symbolical (revelations doesn't count :p) or to be taken as a realistic insight into the cosmos?

I pledge allegiance
To the flag
Of the United States of America
And to the republic
For which it stands
One nation,(under god) indivisible
With liberty and justice for all

Who and when did they add those words? Why did they add that? If you could discard those words, would you, why?

And I was just thinking about humans not knowing how the Earth was made. I guess Christians believe God made it. I know the story but I don't really understand this in comparison with other theories like the Big Bang theory. It's all very confusing for me. Could God just be a force? Can anyone explain this all to me.

It seems like God would automatically win, no contest. So why would God and Satan be playing this game with our souls when the winner is pretty much obvious?
