And I was just thinking about humans not knowing how the Earth was made. I guess Christians believe God made it. I know the story but I don't really understand this in comparison with other theories like the Big Bang theory. It's all very confusing for me. Could God just be a force? Can anyone explain this all to me.

Some of your answerer's on here say go to the source, and they would be right. The first chapter in the first book of the Bible says " In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. From there it just gets better. You do need to ask God to give you the understanding. Read it with an open heart and mind. Then when you have questions, go to someone you trust like a pastor, priest, Christian friend, etc, to help you.

basicly, i don't think that anyone TRULY knows HOW it was made. Of course God did, but HOW he made it is a wonder in itself, kind of like God being here forever/ without a beginning. God's not just a force though, because we were made in his image, and forces don't have images. But, back to the Big Bang theory, isn't that already proven in the Bible? I mean, the BB theory states basicly that there was nothing, and then there was something. That's kind of how God might have made Earth. I don't know though.

I believe God made the earth with the big bang theory and then made life on earth after that

God cannot be just a force, as force by itself is chaotic. Yet everything from the macrocosmic to the sub-atomic has a precise order that never could have come from the ultimate chaos of the Big Bang, as order does not come from chaos by itself.

More and more scientists (albeit reluctantly) are coming to the conclusion that only a guiding Intelligence could have created the order we see in our universe today.

"All is God" stretches the defintion of God so far as to make it meaningless. I mean, where did the force come from?

The Big Bang isn't too hard to grasp if you have the right books (Like The Big Bang, Joseph Silk).

You may also want to check out "The Impossibility of God." Can't remember the author (blush).

Good luck to you.

I agree with Esther, take out your Bible and ask God for help in understanding...If you are truly seeking God, and want to understand and want to know Him, you will find Him.

It may seem simplistic, but what is it that is necessary in order to find anything? We first must open our eyes to see. If it's not sitting in front of us when we open our eyes, we need to make an effort. Nothing is more worthwhile than finding God in the written word He gave us through His chosen people.

Always remember this bit of information and keep it clearly in mind...to this day there are only theories regarding the creation of the universe. Science offers a primary theory with a bang and evolution. God tells us how creation began in the book of Genesis in the Bible. Scientists continue to modify their theories as they are discredited, and they have yet to "prove" any of them. God's account of creation requires faith, but to believe the proposals of science requires just as much if not even more faith. With God we believe Him because of who He is. The All powerful, all knowing, all loving and ever present God. We believe He has the power and authority to do all that He said He has done.

The other alternative is placing that same faith in mere human beings with a flawed understanding of the universe as proven by their own statements and actions...

Either random chance created everything you see on a daily basis, and we evolved from organic goup...became monkeys and finally started walking and talking...or God created the Universe, and designed us in His image, with purpose and specific intent. Either we place faith in God, or we place faith entirely in human beings with proven flaws of body and mind...who have no more power than you or I and will ultimately die as we will.

God bless you in your search! I pray you find the answers you seek.

Much of the perceived conflict between science and religion comes from the misunderstanding of mythos vs. logos. Mythos has to do with mythical stories that deal with a different aspect of reality than daily life. The story of Adam and Eve is a mythic explanation of humankind's fall from grace. Logos, on the other hand, deals with the empiric, measurable world. Scientists explore the world using logical methods. Mythos is equally important as logos, but they are distinct ways of knowing.

A conflict arises when people try to apply logical concepts to the Bible; this leads to folks who go off in search of where the "real" Ark is hidden, and where Adam and Eve "really" lived. Biblical stories resonate with people because we love myth. We love hearing stories about our deep selves that explain humanity on a level that logic cannot reach. However, the two worldviews should never be put into a competition.

In the first book of the bible they would explain everything. About how the earth was created. The Earth stars, the moon everything man everything. Start with Genesis and work your way through to the next couple of books afterwards.
