acconts as true?

It seems that most Abrahamists today do not take the bible as literal and insist on interpreting the truths present within as opposed to taking it at its word for an absolute account of reality?

Did the authors of all of these seperate books intend their accounts to be symbolical (revelations doesn't count :p) or to be taken as a realistic insight into the cosmos?

Since the Biblical writers existed before the rise of modern science, I can presume that they took all the Biblical stories literally (7 day creation, Revelation, etc.). But as science has progressed, God has revealed to us that his creation is much more complex.

In the end, the Bible is not a science book, but focuses on how we can attain salvation through CHrist our LORD> God bless.

The "authors" you talk about are generally referred to as Scribes. Prophet/Scribes, if you will.
The Books of the Bible, both Old and New Testaments< are recognized as inspired by God, literally, "God breathed."

Exodus 4:15 begins an excellent study about how God puts words into the minds and mouths of His prophets. A good study Bible will lead you through such texts all the way into the New Testament books or Paul's and Peter's Epistles.

More correctly, God "authored" the 66 Books of the Bible;
He used 40 different Scribes, over a period of some 1500 years or more.

The movement to take the bible as metaphorical instead of literal is a last ditch attempt to hold onto religion before it finally reaches its rightful death.
