I do have Jesus in my life. I took Jesus as my Lord and Savior a long time ago but I still don't want to die at a young age. I have so much left to do and lightening freaks me out

Islands... I have an irrational fear of islands sinking.. I know it's irrational and I know where the fear stems from..

When I was 10 years old my family was camping near Canyon Lake in Arizona.. my brother and I went off exploring in a canoe we found what we thought was an Island (maybe 20 feet by 30 feet when we stepped out of the canoe the ground seemed firm but within a minute it began crumbling away and we realized we were on a quicksand bar..

We jumped for the canoe my brother made it in I missed and only grabbed the edge of the canoe.. My brother held me up out of the water as the sand drug at my legs for a good 10 minutes screaming for help before it arrived.. Since then I have had a fear of islands.. Even islands in the middle of city park ponds, I am always looking for an escape route just incase they start to sink...

I have made myself go onto islands but I get so keyed up that I leave the instant I can.. I keep trying but always have the thought in the back of my head "What if the ground suddenly isn't so firm?"

After 5 accidents, I'm afraid of car accidents. (I was never the cause.)
Also afraid of the same thing you are, being burned alive, suffering badly, spiders and snakes, being alone. (I don't mean for a few minutes or hours -- longer term. Like when you're an old person and don't want to end up all alone.)

I took a class once that talked about what to do to get over fears. The idea, regardless of the technique, is teaching yourself that your fears are unfounded and often preventable.

My #1 fear is Death!!! Scares me....I see more and more friends and relative die each year and I'm not getting any younger. I will be 40 years old this year. Its not that I don't believe in god. Its just that nobody on this earth has been to the after life and come back to talk about it. So we shall see what happens. I personally would like to live forever, but I know that is not realistic either. I thank god every day that he allows me to spend another day on this earth.

I used to be afraid of heights. But, that was before I fell from the second story while hanging a roof and broke my back. Amazing what that will do for you. It does change a person. Peace and love>

Is there any good reason to fear? If not, don't waste your time on fear.
There are some things that I prefer not happen like an undignified death with lots of pain. Though I prefer that it not happen, it might.
I prefer that the United States be at peace with the rest of the world and that we spend our military budget on large rehabilitation projects around the world.
Some things you can control and that is your business.
Some things you can't control and it is a wast of energy to fret over them.

I'm scared that I'll never find my true passion in life. I'm also scared that I won't be accepted into the school I applied for this Fall. I'm scared that I'll have to depend on my parents for the rest of my life. I'm terrified wondering if this is just a phase, or if I really will just become a bum...

Good question. I'm scared of dieing really.

My other thing is heights or falling to my death. An example would be falling out of the WTC or sky diving and parachute failing.

"You call me courageous and such a term flatters me, but I cannot accept a title which is not mine. Courage is looking fear in the eye and challenging it. And whether or not you prevail, that is courage nonetheless. When I faced death you called me courageous, but how can that be so when I never feared death to begin with? For beyond the gate of death I know that paradise awaits me. No, I fear not a broken body, which angel surgeons can make whole again. But not even heaven can mend my heart, which is so easily broken. It is the danger to my heart that terrifies me. I am not courageous; indeed I am a coward for I hide my heart in terror of what might wait in store for it. You’ve asked for my heart, and my heart longs to go to you. But in my fear I’ve kept it locked up tight and safe, though it longs to grow. I am aware even through my fear, that I must release my captive heart before it starves and dies. But I know that once free, only I can mend it once it breaks. And I fear I’m not strong enough."

I'm afraid of communism, seriously, that would suck.

and i have a suspicious feeling like any day now in the U.S., Bush is going to pass a law making atheism illegal, and punishable by prison.

spiders - I hate them and am scared. It's silly - I couldn't even watch the new Charlotte's Web because the computer generated spider was too real looking. Freaked me out.
