It seems that a number of Christians can't get their head around the idea that some people really don't believe in God and insist that secretly we do. Well, not only do I not believe in your God but I also think it even more unrealistic than a Deist's idea of God.

Why is it that you don't think it possible not to believe? Can't you imagine anyone else having different experiences and thoughts to you? I'd be intrigued to know the thinking behind this attitude.

Although I am agnostic, I can understand if the Bible, and possibly other religious books were true, why God could allow the suffering to go on, here on earth.
But I want to hear your justification, if you believe in God.

I found their explantations very logical and reasonable... but there were some people who said they were ex-mormons and they lied about most of the stuff?

Why would you intentionally lie about mormons? I see a lot of hate towards them and not much evidence to support this hate.

I have met a mormon and he seemed to very a good caring person.

So... why do some of you hate Mormons?

You will take your final breath and close your eyes one last time. We all will. Will your eyes ever open again? Where will you be? What will you see? WHAT will you be? Today could be your last day, so if you're not sure, you might want to check into it.

The full quote:
Early in the museum, the visitor is given advice on the proper mind frame to have for your visit: “Don’t think, just listen and believe”. [..] Human Reason is the enemy and God’s Word is the hero. Descartes represents Human Reason, saying “I think, therefore I am”. But God tells us there no need to waste your beautiful mind, for God says “I am that I am”.

If Christians don't put any value on mans amazing ability to reason (something God would have designed, correct?) how can any reasonable person take their claims seriously? The claim is as good as saying that although we use reason via forensics to determine the past, we cannot use reason to determine our history! How could any person who stands behind this belief think they can be taken seriously? People who don't reason are classified as 'insane', which is defined by someone who is unable to learn (which you need reason for) from repetitive mistakes. How can any of the bible even be argued, cuz that requires reason!

If so, why does he say:
• 1 Cor. 4:4-5 - I am not conscious of anything against me, but I do not thereby stand acquitted; the one who judges me is the Lord. 5 Therefore, do not make any judgment before the appointed time, until the Lord comes , for he will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will manifest the motives of our hearts
• 1 Cor. 9:27 - I drive my body and train it, for fear that, after having preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.
• Phil. 3:12-13 - It is not that I have already taken hold of it or have already attained perfect maturity, but I continue my pursuit in hope that I may possess it, since I have indeed been taken possession of by Christ (Jesus).13 Brothers, I for my part do not consider myself to have taken possession
• Phil. 1:18-20 - ... Christ is being proclaimed? ... I know that this will result in deliverance for me ...20 My eager expectation and hope is that I shall not be put to shame in any way

We all know that there are spiritual books how there, and there seems to be an inert feeling in all of us to find out why we exist, and the purpose of life. So wouldn't it seem, that if you threw all this out as foolishness, and lived your life as YOU saw fit, that you in essense are making yourself God?

Why do people use this argument, when it has never happened in countries/states that allow gay marriage?

Isn't this a slippery slope argument?

I am trying to understand Christianity. What I have so far come to understand from my Christian teachings that God was so upset with humans (humans behaviour was in His mind) that he decided to come down in a human form. The form and the name he adopted was that of Jesus. And that is my question: why he felt the need to change to Jesus and not remained God? He was God in Heaven and He should have remained God on earth as well? My question is with regards to His name and not the form that he took - the human form!

Sometimes I think work gives us a way of speaking and hanging out with people we wouldn't normally be friends with e.g. people of different races. So work is kind of cool like that I guess? What's your 2 cents on what I just said?

"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."

When the Lord condemned Satan to eternal existence as a lowly snake, did God limit Satan's ability to injure us, to merely bruising our ability to walk?

If this is all that Satan can do, why do many people think Satan is capable of more? Does Satan truly have the ability to kill us?(I'm referring to all the horror movies depicting men fleeing in fear from the devil and his demonic spirits)

Your thoughts?

I have been born again for sometime but have backslided for a while and now i am absolutely determened to have a deeper relationship with God.

Learning the word of God lifts me up and then i have to apply it in my life which seems to be the difficult part.

My question is, the enviroment in which i live is quite hostile from neighbours to mixing in the community. I am trying not to judge others neither convert others but it doesn't seem like there's any like minded people that are on a spiritual journey or people that are living outside the box and looking at the bigger picture.

How does a christian live in a society where they feel so alone?

(I am asking on yahoo answers as i am touched by the sincerity of a lot of the answers i have recieved on here before).

Have you ever noticed that the more devoted a person is to the church, the more insane that person acts. I watched a rerun of that trading spaces show were that Christian lady switched families with the atheist family. She went F###ING nuts. She was screaming at the top of her lungs at these people for being atheists, she was rolling around on the floor begging and crying to God to forgive these people. I went to church with a friend of mine recently and there was some girl who was a born again Christian. They did this little prayer for her and then the whole church started crying because she decided to accept God. These people are nutty. lol

Some of you atheists, many of you, have read the bible without any help from this rogue and vagabond. I bring the matter up here because, If you find yourself in any kind of converstion with an avid Christian, it's useful to know the bible from cover to cover. So many Christians do not read it, will not read it, ever, and so they adlip, add verses, paragraphs, fake beliefs, happenings that never happened, god's love that was weak in the offing, and excuses for some really wacko stuff about talking animals, magic, ghosts, rape, incest, slavery, angels flying around like jets, human sacrifice, even aliens and heaven's being on the dark side of Mars, you name it. Learn not only chapter & verse but also the titles of "books" and page & verse numbers, etc. It's really easy to show many a Christian as the unknowing chap that he probably is, but why not go all the way?
