Jesus taught that there are two basic laws of God governing humankind. The first law is that life comes from God and we are to use it as God intends, as illustrated in Jesus' parable of the talents. The second law is that God intends for human beings to live by love for each other, as illustrated in the parable of the good Samaritan.

Jesus summarized these two basic "commandments" (or laws) of God as "love for God and love for neighbor." These two commandments were known to Jesus from the Hebrew scriptures but Jesus expanded the definition of "neighbor" to include everyone. "Love for God" means having appreciation for God as the creator of the world and the source of human life. "Love for neighbor" means having appreciation for the value of every human life. These are not laws or "truths" that Jesus received through some supernatural "revelation." In his "parable of the sower," Jesus taught that the "word of God" is known naturally because it is sown "in the heart" of everyone.

I'm a christian and am pretty well informed about my religion. However, I don't know much about any other religion. So please enlighten me. I just want to be informed about other religions, whether they be well known or not. Even different practices would interest me. Just educate me!

Islam is the only religion where some of it's followers are willing to strap themselves with explosives. The question is "why?" What would make someone want to so that? Are they just brainwashed or do they hate their lives?

Enter ye in at the strait gate:for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.Ye shall know them by their fruits.Do men gather grapes of thorns,or figs of thistles?Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit;but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me,Lord,Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day,Lord,Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?and in thy name have cast out devils?

WHY do you think that?

As Christians, our mission is to obey the Great Commission of our Lord as stated in the following Scripture passage:

Matthew 28:19-20 (New International Version)

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

My question is...How are you fulfilling the Great Commission by participating on Yahoo! Answers? Are you merely trying to convert non-Christians, or are you doing something to make disciples of them as well?

I think we are missing the mark if all we are doing is trying to make believers out of people without making sure that they follow Christ in discipleship as well.

perhaps you have wondered, well remember Jesus gave a commision to his followers (deciples) (Matthew 28:19-20) 19 Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU.. . .

(Acts 20:20) . . .while I did not hold back from telling YOU any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching YOU publicly and from house to house. . .

not this is an obligation to ALL CHRISTIANS not just to a few

He takes the credit for all the good things we do but blames all the bad things on us. As the creator of the universe, he is responsible for everything that exists and everything that occurs - isn't it about time he started facing up to his responsibilities?

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." 2 Thessalonians 2:3,4

There are a multitude of religions on this planet, not to mention those who subscribe to the idea that all religion is wrong. How can I determine which is th correct viewpoint, without first accepting any single one of them as the truth?

In other words, what objective standard can I use to determine where I should be?

Is faith just another word for hope?

You hope there will be justice after you die, you hope that this life does not end, you hope some father figure(God/Allah) will take care of you forever and ever. You hope the cruel will be punished and the good will be rewarded. You hope that your religion among all the others is the right one. ......but hoping for something to be true does not make it true does it???

To say there is no God, wouldn't you have to search the universe and know everything... wouldn't you have to be omniscient (which means you are God)? Would this disprove the very position you're trying to prove?
