There's nothing sinful about music except to religious fanatics (which is a small group of people who do not represent all people with religion, so no one make that mistake, please).

To some, it's all got to do with the material of the music and the moves of the dance, but music and dancing in and of themselves are not sins to any respect.

Music is good. So is dancing. When you turn on music what's the first thing a baby does. He dances. Children sing too. It's as natural as food and water. Jewish people back in the day had no conflict with dancing, music, food, or even sex (responsibly). These fictitious repressions were given to us by men of the early church. Satan hates happiness, peace and joy. So eat drink and be merry and make a joyful noise unto the Lord.

Music and dancing are not Bad. The Psalms, in fact, are songs, mostly written by David. When the nation of Israel went to war, the returning soldiers were often greeted with singing and dancing by the women.

It's important to use discretion when selecting the type of music we listen to but to say it's all bad is not balanced.

Both dance and music can be bad or good depending on the type. Dont listen to music with bad lyrics. Ideally you should listen to music that glorifies God only, but that it is not written in the Bible " thou shalt listen to christen music alone," and I know that it is hard for some people. When you dance, dance modestly.

Music and dance are just a human's form of creative expression. If you listen to music and then go and shoot up a school or shopping mall .... then YOU are bad whether you blame the music for your rampage or not.

I'd say your friend is bad for lying and/or just making up stuff that isn't based in reality.

There are Christians who say that dancing and contemporary music are sinful indulgences. I for one know that God created music and David danced in the streets.
If the music you listen to is vulgar and horrible, God wouldn't want you to listen to it. But if it's just normal music, keep listening. Your friend may be wrong, but they have been convicted of something. Don't nag them or anything.

It is not what goes in, it is what comes out of the heart that is sin. You were given power to rise above temptation, and so use it. Listen to your heart and you will hear what you need to know at the right time. Music can be wonderful or horrible, but just don't let the horrible stuff deceive you, and you'll be fine.

Music (especially rock) makes your heart beats faster. You may not get affected by that but some people who suffer from fast heart beats such as mvps may be affected badly and in smoe cases it may cause a heart attack if it is accompanied by dancing. That is why some muslims claim that music is banned in islam. Some other muslims say that listening to music may distract people from praying to god.

Number 2: Dancing is SOOO good for you. It is actually an exercises.

And Number 3: Your friend is weird! LOL

Listening to music is by no means a sin. If you give into what the lyrics suggests, then you'd have a problem. (That is assuming that the content of the lyrics is of a mature nature.)
