Sometimes I think work gives us a way of speaking and hanging out with people we wouldn't normally be friends with e.g. people of different races. So work is kind of cool like that I guess? What's your 2 cents on what I just said?

To the first answerer CB, I hope you don't think that I proselytize in the workplace. I seriously DON'T do that because it's totally inappropriate and invasive. But many conversations naturally drift into the spiritual, that's what I'm saying

And also, let's not just focus on conversations, but just simply experiencing people of a different race at work because normally where you live or who you hang with does not have those races

Aurora, to answer your question, I feel dealing with different races IS a spiritual issue in of itself (for me at least)

It's most often true that the workplace allows us to socialize with demographics that we might not normally choose. It gets a little sticky with religion/spirituality in the workplace, especially the more corporate you get. Most corporate employers want to stress 'diversity' of all types, but I've found that while all are embraced as employess, it gets to the point that the employees themselves are uncomfortable sharing their diversity with others. It's a shame, I think...

I'm confused. You start your question about spirituality in the workplace, then switch it to being with people there that you normally wouldn't be friends with...e.g. people of different races. Which is the question? What you discuss as adults on your free time at work is perfectly okay, but bringing religion into the workplace isn't. How uncomfortable do you think it would be for those who are not of your religion. Non-religious spirituality is okay, because that could include everyone. The workplace should not be a place where religion or politics is forced on anyone.

I totally agree. I used to work for a moving company in Seattle. We had all ethnicities, all religious backgrounds, and all financial backgrounds. Democrats, Libertarians, Greens, Rinos, Republicans, you name it.
We had a job to do and no cubicle to hide in. We worked together. Yes, there were fights, and arguments, but for the most part we got along. Sometimes you have to put your differences aside and work together to get something done. And in that we learned alot about other people, and where they come from and where they are going.
Sometimes, the conversation works around to deep issues like religion, race relations and the like. Feel free to talk about it. But don't force you ideals on another co-worker. It just ain't cool.

Man, our sermon today covered JUST THAT!
(get right back to you,.......)
The Bible says in Ephesians that we are to glorify God wherever we are--
RESPECT the boss(even though God is our REAL boss)and
DO what we are told----no back talking.
DO NOT STEAL from your place--as in unfair breaks or being late or taking things that aren't yours.
Boy, it was hard to listen to--even though me and my boss have worked our way through hard times with each other--we actually HAVE FUN with each other now!
SO MUCH COOLER TO GET ALONG WITH EVERYBODY,
DON"T YOU THINK?
oops, did I ask YOU a question?
P/S ALLERGIC TO EGGS--GOD is everywhere, anyway--you can talk or think or SING to HIM ANYwhere you WANT!!

I think it is an inappropriate place and time to discuss spiritual beliefs.

Honestly, you were going in one direction then turned and went another direction. Although I must admit I'm not that surprised.
