Why do people use this argument, when it has never happened in countries/states that allow gay marriage?

Isn't this a slippery slope argument?

kind of like the people that argue "oh if we allow gay couples to raise children they'll all turn out gay" .......and straight couples ONLY have straight children, right? pff i hate some people, like the ignorant ones who push their beliefs on everyone else. gay people are the way they are, just let them live their lives in peace.

The slippery slope is those who take the step into beastiality.

During a pep rally at South Park Elementary School, a local PETA group protests the use of a cow as a mascot. The school agrees to pick a new mascot, and the students are told to vote for a new mascot. Embarrassed by the bland choices, the kids decide to fill in a joke candidate but disagree as to whether it should be a "giant douche" or a "turd sandwich." Kyle rallies his friends to fill in "giant douche", and Cartman gathers support for the turd sandwich. Kenny joins Kyle, possibly because Cartman had recently broken his cat's leg, and Cartman wins Butters' support. The result is a tie between the two joke candidates and a runoff election is to be held. Stan decides that he doesn't like either candidate, and declares that he won't vote at all, much to everyone's dismay.

The turd sandwich supporters rally against the giant douche supporters, using bribes and scare tactics to gain support. Meanwhile, Stan's decision not to vote disgusts the entire town. Puff Daddy terrorizes him with his literal Vote or Die campaign, and the school administration decides that he must be banished from the town for all eternity (or until he decides that voting is important). He's placed, bound and battered with a bucket over his head, on horseback and sent off into the woods. Eventually he reaches the PETA encampment, where he finds that the humans have grown vaginally intimate with the animals to the point of bestiality. They teach him that an election is always between a giant douche and a turd sandwich, because they're the only people who suck up enough to make it that far in politics. P. Diddy shows up at the camp to kill Stan, but is distracted by a PETA member who throws a bucket of blood on his fur coat. This angers him, and he takes his rage out on the PETA camp, killing all the members. As he does so, Stan runs home to cast his vote for the turd sandwich. Despite adding his vote to the tally, the giant douche still wins the vote 1410 to 36. Stan is initially dismayed that his vote didn't matter, but Randy informs his son that all votes matter even if it's for the losing side. Suddenly Mr. Garrison runs in with the news that the PETA members have been discovered murdered. As a result, the cow is reinstated as South Park Elementary School's mascot. Randy tells Stan that now his vote didn't matter.

I am going to show below why legalizing same sex marriage will not lead to legalizing the marrying of animals and why your stance against gay marriage will become a dieing idea. ANSWER: You are not actually showing anything, you're just assuming. Beastiality has existed in human history. Look it up. -Same sex marriage is accepted here in Canada and a few American States and nothing like that has happened. ANSWER: That something hasn't happened (according to you) does not ensure that it never will. -Animals can not give consent to sex or marriage like two or more grown adults can. ANSWER: Rape and child-molestation victims don't give consent either, but their bodies are capable (just like many animals) to be used for sex, even if unwillingly. And, according to some of these sly cats who say some ape families are still evolving, as soon as they develop vocal chords to allow them to speak, they just might consent varbally. -Before inter-racial marriage was accepted people were against it and saying it is wrong and unnatural (just like you with gay marriage today). ANSWER: That some Americans are ethnocentric is not a strong basis for gay marriage rights, and it doesn't have anything to do with beastiality or polygamy. Furthermore, scientific evidence shows that male and female are meant to mate, no matter their color, but it gives no evidence that the partnering of the same sex in anyway benefits society. AND, religiously speaking, the Bible does not condemn interracial marriage, but it does condemn homosexuality. BTW some people also argue it could lead to legalized polygamy but what is wrong with that as long as all parties equally consent to the union. ANSWER: Polygamy, while not permitted by the Bible, is permitted in many cultures of the world (e.g.: Muslims), and it does not involve homosexuality.

Well, it may be true. But so what? Definitions change over time, as do people.

A big reason why it doesn't happen, I think, apart from widespread belief that it is silly, is that marriage leads to unique financial and legal situations. An animal makes no money, an animal has no choice in the matter, etc.

We should think about why marriage is so important...

Oh good grief, SUCH a slippery slope fallacy. I don't know why anyone bothers to try to pass it off as a legit argument anymore, honestly.

I absolutely hate this argument. Regardless of whether or not you understand a relationship between two people of the same sex, it is (in my opinion) evil and condescending to compare the feelings shared between two consenting adults to something as silly as wishing to marry an animal.

It's a moronic argument that's used when people don't have a valid reason for banning same sex marriage.

Don't you know? Only in America do animals have legal standing in court to sign a marriage liscence. Keep up with American laws! :o)
