What are your opinions on scientology?

2007-05-15 07:29:44 · 27 answers · asked by weallgotohell 2

If America were to become a theocracy:

1) Which Christian sect would be the one chosen as the State religion? Protestant or Catholic?
2) Will other sects or religions be allowed to practice freely?
3) Will EVERYONE have to abide by the State Chosen Christian sect's doctrines irregardless of whether they believe or not?
4) Will all kids HAVE to be educated according to ONE belief?

These are just SOME of the problematic questions of a theocracy. We agree Islamic extremism and theocratic government suck. We are in shock over how women are treated. How non-believers are viewed and the skewered, unscientific, illogical world view Muslim fundamentalists have and the sectarian violence it causes. Yet we are allowing Christian fundamentalism to flourish in our country.

I'm Christian and I would much rather prefer to live in a secular society than a theocratic one. I want my kids taught biology in class not Genesis! I don't want people FORCED to practice MY faith. Do you agree?

"I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won't have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again and Christians will be running them. What a happy day that will be!"

The worldwide flood that destroyed all life on earth except for Noah, his family, and the animals in the ark occurred in 4990 B.C. In 2 Peter 3 God refers back to this flood and then transitions to the destruction of the universe by fire. In verse 8 God says, "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." This is interesting because God told Noah to get inside the ark 7 days before He brought the flood (Genesis 7:4).

In verse 8 of 2 Peter 3 we read that interesting Scripture. If we add 7000 to 4990 B.C. (1 day = 1000 years) we arrive at the year 2011 A.D. Is this the year Christ will return as the "Lion of the tribe of Judah" to rapture the saints, destroy the universe bringing judgment on the ungodly, and create a new Heaven and Earth?

Before you answer, remember God told Abraham and Lot before He destroyed Sodom + Gomorrah.

**I AM NOT GIVING A DAY OR HOUR... JUST THE YEAR...

Is it possible to be both a Christian and a serious scientist?

2007-05-15 07:12:08 · 26 answers · asked by Anonymous

I see a lot more nastiness in feigned goodness then in levity.

Falwell *was NOT* disliked because he was a Christian. He was disliked because of things like this:
And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face and say, "You helped this happen."
-- Rev Jerry Falwell, blaming civil libertarians, feminists, homosexuals, and abortion rights supporters for the terrorist attacks of Tuesday, September 11,2001

who isn't "happy" when bad things happen to people. He was a bigoted homophobe who hurt my country, true. But I can be respectful, as I would expect others to be respectful when this happens to people I respect, such as when we lost Carl Sagan.

I'm not alone, am I?

He is a Southern Baptist and one of the people that blamed the 9-11 terrorist attacks on the homosexuals and abortionists.

He was only 73 years old...but, was a very large overweight man. He obviously died fat so never turned from his sin of gluttony.

Will he go to hell because he continued to live in sin by being fat...he was not properly taking care of his temple of God, and disobeying the Bible where it says to keep yourself clean and healthy in mind and body. I am told that if you do not turn from your sin, you go to hell...He obviously never turned...your thoughts?

How do you differentiate between Jesus speaking about the disciples and when he spoke of future generations? My example being when Jesus said'this generation shall not pass..."the standard answer is he wasn't talking about the disciples,he was referring to a future generation. But then when Jesus says in John 14:12Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Then I get the answer that Jesus wasn't referring to future generations performing miracles, but to the disciples only. Where do you draw the line if you get my question. Haters need not reply, and if you are afraid of being bashed, feel free to email me. Serious question, does anyone have a serious answer?
