Jehovah's Witnesses have the true religion. They are Christian (of course), but they are unique for their rejection of paganisms, use of God's personal name, and global preaching by every active adherent. No other religious organization can claim such purity of worship.

These facts about Jehovah's Witnesses are perhaps relevant to this question. The more one compares this Christian religion with others, the more remarkable it is shown to be.

1. Jehovah's Witnesses have no paid clergy. Yet they remain tightly organized with more than 6.5 million active Jehovah's Witness preachers (about 16 million associate themselves with the religion). Even fulltime preachers and workers at their branch offices are unpaid volunteers.

2. There is no elite class among Jehovah's Witnesses. Even the few 'anointed' among them enjoy no special privileges in their congregations on earth. An anointed person (one of those relative few with a heavenly hope) is not elevated above his fellow congregants in any way, and he may not even qualify for appointment as a simple 'deacon' or elder. There are no titles; EVERYONE is addressed as 'brother' or 'sister'.

3. No person benefits economically from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Even the 8 to 20 men who serve on their Governing Body receive simply room, board, medical care, and reimbursement for certain personal expenses according to the exact same provision as every other branch volunteer.

4. About a hundred men have served on Jehovah's Witnesses' Governing Body committee during the past 125 years or so. The vast majority of them have spent the vast majority of their adult lives volunteering for their organization's purposes, and the vast majority have died faithfully and near-pennilessly while still under their legal 'vow of poverty'.

5. Amazingly, Jehovah's Witnesses did not splinter as a sect from some other religion. Instead, a truly tiny but sincere group of bible students studied only the Scriptures to determine the will of God. Thus their religion remains absolutely independent of and not carrying the sins of Christendom's history, yet carries the authority of Christ's teachings.

6. Despite the distortions of anti-Witnesses, throughout their modern history Jehovah's Witnesses have refused to claim divine inspiration or infallibility for their teachings. They have pointed to the bible (and not any particular translation) as the only inspired infallible means of knowing God's thoughts. For over 125 years, their teachings have been presented as merely the results of sincere bible research by imperfect but godly humans.

When I was young I wasn’t religious because obviously as a child you’re still developing, and religion isn’t on your mind. But even at a young age I was very selective of who my friends were. People were always asking me to hang out and come over to their homes but I was very reserved with who I let in my world/life. I learned this habit from having a huge family, and forced to hang with shady cousins. They were always speaking vulgarly, into stealing, vandalizing etc.

To make a long story short I had a lot of people I could say were friends but I had a few best friends and even though I wasn’t religious at the time they were Jehovah’s witnesses. They were my best friends because as a child I could sense they were morally different from the rest, they were free of rivalry and vulgarities. I’m not getting into what Jehovah’s witnesses believe but by their conduct, I trusted those friends more than my own cousins.

I think that most of the Jehovah's Witnesses that I have known, are fair and faithful people. I completely understand that they don't celebrate any holiday that is not mentioned in the bible.
I have deep respect for the virtues that are held by the majority of the Witnesses.
The only thing that I have questions about....divorce. I have a cousin who is in a horrible marriage ( they are Witnesses), she will not leave a marriage where is verbally and physically abused because she is afraid that the church will excommunicate her. Why is that??? He is also a Witness, but is very mean. I also know another woman who is married, her husband is not a Witness, he is a drug addict and does not help with the care of the kids and does not work either. She is afraid to send him on his way because of how her church will react to her.
Honestly, I think that the religion is very honorable. I wish more people would educate themselves about it rather than pigeon hole it as a cult.
I studied with a woman, who was a devout Witness, when I was a kid. I am not a Witness, I am Christian, like the Witnesses.

One of my best friends became a JW a long time ago along with his wife. They're still pretty swell people.

Some JW's I've met have been friendly and quite normal. Others have been kind of kooky. Some of been nice, and some have been snots.

So I guess JW are like everybody else.

Nobody told me to feel this way; it just happened.

It is a cult and you should stay away -- they deny the Trinity and the Resurrection of Christ!
They violate the Word of God...

I respect Jehovah's Witness folowers because I respect their discipline but I believe that Jehovah's Witness is a cult. I think that Jehovah's Witness practices are extreemly controlling and that they use fear to gain power and controll over their followers (though the same could be said about other religions, I think it is extremly so with JW) I was freind w/ a Jehovas witness and to me she seemed trapped and scared. It was not fair that she had to try and convert people to JW and it was not fair that we could never see eachother again since we ended up going to different high schools.
like i said I respect their discipline, and commitment, but i think the religion is all bull and am angry that the JW higherups manipulate their followers in the way they do. this is my own opinion, I have researched JW beliefs and practices.

I know a very sweet and intelligent young lady who is a JW. I am a mom and she' is the same age as my oldest child. If most JW's are like this young lady, then my opinion won't change.

They deny the Deity of Jesus Christ.......so they are cult???

Actually they are the very few that stand up to the majority and say NO to pagan teachings that were brought into the Church at the Nicene meeting.

They are special people who spend their time trying to help others. They are unselfish, when it comes what they do for others. They know how to make the scripture make sense.
They have a NWT version of the bible that makes it easier to understand. They teach God's name, JEHOVAH, and they believe in his son, Jesus Christ. They do not worship idols, they , do not celebrate pagan holidays, they are fun to be around. They have time when other people don't.They have a website they tells more about them,
www.watchtower.org
You can visit a Kingdom Hall to learn more about them.
