"The Lord Jesus chose men to form the college of the twelve apostles ... The Church recognizes herself to be bound by this choice made by the Lord himself. For this reason the ordination of women is not possible."

http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt2sect2chpt3.htm#1577

Jesus did not choose women to be amongst the 12, so women are not permitted to be priests.

Jesus did not choose gentiles to be amongst the 12, but gentiles are permitted to be priests.

Obviously, "The Church recognizes herself to be bound by this choice made by the Lord himself" is a convenient excuse to bar women, but is ignored when it comes to gentile men.

How do you explain this double-standard?

Why does the church not select only Jewish priests in accordance with the example Jesus set?

Why does it feel "bound by this choice made by the Lord himself" only when it comes to women, but not when it comes to gentiles?

do you help them along any? Let them happen when you aren't paying attention, or not realize the things you could have done until retrospect hits? Have you earned any negative attention? Do you secretly like some of it?

I freely admit to having been guilty on all counts, what about you?

As someone mentioned in one of my earlier questions, being that today is Mother's Day, a mother's love is the closest thing to unconditional love here on earth.

Again, Happy Mother's Day to All!!!

a christian asks for prayer, 5 atheists answers with "go away" or "go do something else".

a christian asks for the meaning of a verse in the Bible, another 10 atheist floods the question with "this is just a lie".

look, atheists claim christians are forcing their views down them in real life. yet the way things are now, arent atheists the ones harassing christians?

check out the questions, resolved, undecided or open, see if you can get a christian question without any single atheists's insulting remarks.

please, without a belief doesnt mean you ought to be without manners too, ya?

Borat 3:16 says: “Soon governments will see that religions as a whole is one of the primary cause of all evils. And, so governments will abolish all religions. Too a powerful Borat like guy will perform miracles to prove that apes are really the ancestors of men—that’s why we put monkeys in zoos. Because of these two great events—the abolition of all religions and the “real” proof of the existence ape-men—atheists will rejoice.

Governments having seen peace because of abolition of world-wide religions will rejoice too.”

Borat 3:17 says: “But governments will do something foolish—the way they are wont too—that will really anger God. And so governments and all atheists will be thrown into the great lake of fire, that is the second death.”

Proof that it is happening? Stay tuned for more terrorists attack which are religiously inspired. See how science unfolds a break-dancing worm formed out of dust, chemicals, electricity, and lots of trickery.

As most older text people know, their texts tell them that there were commandments of "Thou shalt not"s mostly from a commonly worshipped God. If mankind were to follow such rules and the vagueness of the first commandment to love God, basically people who are hurting and have not learned what to do about their hurts and wanted to be good people, would do nothing, because often they were taught to be vengeful about those things that hurt them.

How would you word some new commandments, you being a part of God, a part of the Creator,.....how would you word commandments that would tell people how to act verses how not to act? Do you think if we acted more positively towards each other, that perhaps there would be a better world to live in today?

I was thinking about this. If people keep praying, soon they will just rely on it?
Instead of actually showing dedication and commitment and DOING things and MAKING things happen, they will just pray instead.
Why bother trying to achieve something when you can just pray and "God" will do it for you?
I think praying is very bad for people and I highly discourage it. Go out and do things with your life, don't just pray for good things to happen.
"The sailor does not pray for wind, he learns to sail."

It's like this: once you've decided a person is dogmatic or prejudiced or reasons poorly, you begin to tell yourself that the things they believe most strongly have no foundation and should be doubted.

Has anyone else ever felt this way?

At my church the worship team require that you turn to the person next to you and give them a holy hug at least three or four times throughout the service.

They also say stuff like, "Turn to the person in front of you and give them a high five and say 'Brother, will YOU be on the church cruise? I will'"

It's mean, but I really hate hugging and high fiving strangers, especially men.

Some say the Son's of Noah, Genesis 10 is known as the table of nations, and some say the tower of Bael because thats when all the language was changed, so they think the nations were created there, but some theologians say that Adam and Eve has all the nations in them to begin with, so the nations could have already been created with Noah and not at the Tower, what do you think?
