I see many Christians in this section complaining about how offensive some others are to them. And I honestly don't get it.

When the women's right movement started, most women were moderate, but a small group had a loud voice. Sometimes even an offensive voice.

The same analogy can be made for the period when MLK gave black people a voice. Also for the current gay rights movement. I'm not a woman, I'm not black, and I'm not gay. Yet, I believe in equal rights, and I understand that a suppressed minority will at the start shout louder than needed to gain equal rights. It's only human. And offensive statements aren't personal attacks. As a white, straight male, I never took it personal.

One nation under God, National prayer day, a president that says atheists aren't true patriots, etc, etc.

Atheism, as a suppressed minority, is slowly getting a voice, and it will sometimes be offensive. Why would anybody take that personal? Isn't it only human and understandable?

why do we as humans have to live a hard life and go throught trials and tribulations and on top of that resist the devil and believe in Jesus to get to heaven? when God created the angels they were already there they didnt have to go through this cruel world or anything like it does that mean God loves angels more than us?

i've heard several close atheist friends of mine say that they aren't the "militant" type of atheist that wants to destroy all world religion, ban christmas, take god out of the pledge and off our money and all that other junk...but some clearly are that way. so, what are your goals as an atheist? are you looking for respect from christians and will be satisfied with that, or are you trying to bring down christianity and all forms of religion?

ok ok lol the weird spelling was to get your attention :P just thought of asking:
1)what religion were you as a child (family religion)?
2)what religions have you studied throughout your life?
3)are you of the same religion still?
4)how did your study of other religions affect your view on the final religion (or lack of) that you have chosen?

me:
1)was born a Buddhist (that's atheistic)
2)have read the bible and the Qur'an and many other books related to those 2 religions.have also read extensively on hinduism and paganism as well.
3)am still a Buddhist
4)i learnt many many undeniably valuable things from all my studying and i thoroughly enjoyed it.also, the more i study other religions, and the more i question Buddhism, the more convinced i become of the truth in Buddhism.

no rude remarks please and no putting down of any religion.nice polite answers ok :) thanks!

Hello, all:

It has been suggested that in addition to the Wiccan Rede ("If it harm none, do what you will"), there are eight Wiccan virtues that are suggested by Doreen Valiente's "The Charge of the Goddess":

"Let my worship be within the heart that rejoiceth; for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals. And therefore let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honour and humility, mirth and reverence within you."

Beauty. Strength. Power. Compassion. Honour. Humility. Mirth. Reverence. Do these strike you as being excellent virtues to cultivate? Are they fundamental characteristics of the Wiccan experience of spirituality?

I just applied dye to my hair from a mixture I bought for a buck-fifty at the dollar store. I am going off to rinse it out now. The mixture in the bottle was green. The excitement of trying it was too much for me.

Please keep me in your thoughts and hope I don't have to spend an outrageous amount of money to see a professional after I am done.

I wish a christian woman had answered. But then, given the above quote, no true christian woman could ;-)

I could have swore I was one. What do you think are there Christian women here?

What do you believe? What is true about existence and what is false or unknown? Are there higher purposes to life such as "belonging to the family of God" or not? How do you know? Do you believe humans have souls? Do you believe animals have souls? Do you believe in God, the devil, heaven, or hell? Do you believe in an afterlife? If you believe in the afterlife, do you believe we are conscious, as we are now, in the afterlife? Do you believe in angels, ghosts, aliens, or spirits? Do you believe in miracles? Do you believe in love? Do you think God is love? Do you believe and trust that God will take care of you no matter what situation comes your way in life? Have you ever experienced anything supernatural or seemingly beyond the possible that caused you to believe a certain way? If you could ask God one question or tell him one thing what would it be? Does God make sense to you? Is the natural character of humans good, bad, or both good and bad (or neither)?

Soemtimes I come across answers that talk about how wonderful it would be to:
Wash Jesus' feet.
Annoint his feel with oil
Kiss his feet.
Lay at his feet
Sit as his feet.
And even one time I saw "Stare at his feet"

Could someone explain to me what the big deal is about his feet?
Thanks

Jesus taught by actions and deeds, so why is this action not emulated by Christianity.

The bible appears to be a book about our lifetimes as humans.
We have killed each other in all possible ways with science killing two billion in the last century alone so don't say religion done it.

But it also says we are better than that, we just have to have faith in ourselves.

Does the bible offer a alternate ending, basically one saying what would happen if we were to wise up as a human race?

Why do you suppose someone would take offense to a faith that is not theirs and in no way affects them? This happens in many ways against many faiths. What are your feelings?

just 50 years ago, most people would have considered both utterly disgusting, and deviant behaviour. Now homosexuality is accepted in the West. Do you think it is a matter of time before pedophiles are accpted as born that way and normal?

Remember that both homosexuals and pedophiles claim to be born that way. Before you say 2 consenting adults blah blah blah...If the pedophile says I was born to like children but I will not act on my urges, do you think they will be considered normal?

My boyfriend and father of my child is catholic and I want to convert to his religion, am I able to still even though I had a child out of wedlock? I wany our child to grow up with a family of the same religion. The father and I are planning on getting married within the year. I know what we did was wrong but I cant rewind time. So for those of you who want to bash me for what I did, go ahead, because I know I made a mistake and I probably deserve it! I just want to make things right with God!

Psalm 107[When was the last time you thanked Him, caught on our daily hurdles and fast pace life and how often we forget to thank Him, and ignore the littlest thing, even though they are not the least….]

Before you think of saying an unkind word
Think of someone who can't speak

Before you complain about the taste of your food
Think of someone who has nothing to eat

Before you complain about your husband or wife
Think of someone who's crying out to God for a companion

Today before you complain about life
Think of someone who went too early to heaven

Before you complain about your children
Think of someone who desires children but they're barren

Before you argue about your dirty house; someone didn't clean or sweep
Think of the people who are living in the streets

Before whining about the distance you drive
Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet

And when you are tired and complain about your job
Think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another
Remember that not one of us is without sin and we all answer to one maker

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down
Put a smile on your face and thank God you're alive and still around.

I Timothy 2:11
"Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
"But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."

When we add up all the exceptions, what is Christianity but a label stitched to the clothing you wore before becoming a "christian"?
