Now that homosexuality has been accepted in the West, is it long before pedophilia is accepted?

just 50 years ago, most people would have considered both utterly disgusting, and deviant behaviour. Now homosexuality is accepted in the West. Do you think it is a matter of time before pedophiles are accpted as born that way and normal?

Remember that both homosexuals and pedophiles claim to be born that way. Before you say 2 consenting adults blah blah blah...If the pedophile says I was born to like children but I will not act on my urges, do you think they will be considered normal?

That's why it's hard for you to grasp.

The reason why homosexuality is accepted is NOT simply because gays are born that way- it's because it's nobody's business.

The reason why it's nobody's business is because it's consenting adults- meaning no one is harmed.

Rape, murder, child molestion all HARM someone.

It always amazes me when people ask questions like this- it shows how people who claim a moral highground actually have no grasp of morality.

It's like to you, the only reason why you should not rape and murder is because society does not find it acceptable.

The fact that it's about harming someone does not even dawn on you.

That's really pitiful.

I doubt that kind of slippery slope will ever occur. There are differences between homosexuality and paedophilia other than the fact that it is deemed 'less ethical' than the previous generation. Paedophilia is dealing with innocent children who really don't know what they want, being taken advantage of by developed and (seemingly) mature adults. I don't find any parallel with homosexuality, which deals with a simple consent and affection to somebody of the same sexual orientation as yourself. You could however put incest in the parallels with homosexuality. Sometime in the future, if two related adults consent to a loving relationship... well it might become acceptable, but probably not for a long time. If I personally discovered activity of this nature happening I'd probably tolerate it and mind my own business, as it is hurting no-one. As for wondering where homosexuality came from, well it is a documented occurrence in animals so it wasn't something we wantonly adopted. It is very much part of our nature and the sooner we learn to live with it, the better. Promiscuity can fall under the same category; homo sapiens is a mammal species after all ;-)
