I Timothy 2:11
"Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
"But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."
When we add up all the exceptions, what is Christianity but a label stitched to the clothing you wore before becoming a "christian"?

Anyone familiar with my line of questioning -knows- where I stand on this ;-)
Why blame me for reminding "Christians" of what their bible tells them?

Given their own doctrine, perhaps I should be -very- selective about whom I listen to in future? ;-)

Timothy is a letter sent to Timothy. Your quotes are instructions given to Timothy, not women.

Just for the sake of clarity, the above quote applies only to christians and "christians", not to those who are neither.

Actually, I checked. This is not the quote regarding what to do in church (that one is found in Corinthians).
This instruction is far more general, and thus more applicable here (assuming you are a christian or "christian", of course).

I wish a christian woman had answered. But then, given the above quote, no true christian woman could ;-)

I neither insult nor do I accuse. I merely asked a question and quoted the relevant scripture.
And as I've read the book, and the synoptics several times, I'm better informed than most "christians". ;-)

The man in question had to be a teacher in approved state in true religion. Satan's flock, no matter how many degrees they have, are not the "head" of a Christian woman.
There are some 2,500 Christian religions now. Nearly all of what they teach is verifiably pagan even in much of their own reference materials.
All Christians have to be teachers outside the church. Hebrews 5:12, Roman 10:10-15, Acts 2:46, 47, 5:42

You do realize that you are contradicting yourself, don't you? At a time when women were being oppressed, Jesus himself gave them respect and honor, as with the case of Mary Magdalene.
Also, if you actually did a bit more research, you would come to find that that scripture applies, not for women to not speak at all, but to respect the headship principle taught in the scriptures where it explains how the women should not exercise any authority over the men.
1 Corinthians 11:3 - "But I want YOU to know that the head of every man is the Christ; in turn the head of a woman is the man; in turn the head of the Christ is God."
Do us all a favor and read God's Word a bit more thoroughly before insulting or accusing.

Christian women are counseled per the scripture you cited to not raise or challenge men in the congregation. There is no provision for them to preside, or to take the lead by instructing the congregation, when qualified men are present. But at Pentecost of 33 C.E. holy spirit was poured out on both men and women. In explanation, the apostle Peter quoted Joel 2:28,29 saying: "In the last days, God says, 'I shall pour out some of my spirit upon every sort of flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy and your young men will see visions and your old men will dream dreams; and even upon my men slaves and upon my women slaves I will pour out some of my spirit in those days, and they will prophesy." So too today then true Christian women share in teaching and sharing what they know from Gods word to others. Also, to address Christianity as being a label stitched to the clothing worn before we became a Christian- when a true Christian follows what God requires this is what takes place....Colossians 3:9,10 "Do not be lying to one another. Strip off the old personality with its practices, and clothe yourselves with the new personality which through accurate knowledge is being made new according to the image of the One who created it."

Christianity is more than just a label stitched to one's clothing! It is, rather like Abercrombie but far more so, a dangerous corrupter of the minds of children and adults alike. They make HELLA cute t-shirts though.
As a woman I read what you had written and thought eureka - he has found a question where those without much common sense will respond as if insulted! Read your Bible, people. If you find it insulting blame God, not the man quoting him. Stop making excuses! *Goes silent and genuflects toward Orion*

I prefer women like this: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=judges+4:1-23 . I guess if I rewrote the Bible, it'd read more like a season of Xena: Warrior Princess! Cheers!

As a Christian woman, I am to share God's Word with others and called to work towards the Great Commission. I am also called to teach other women and share what i have learned. I am not subject to men other than my husband, and I have his explicit permission to speak my point of view on this site.... not that he feels like i am even required to ask for permission. Since you are obviously not a Christian man, by the way you belittle other 'Christians'... you wouldnt understand the truth in scripture... for one must be lead by God in order to fully understand, interpret and/or share that Truth.
I don't have a 'label'... I follow Christ and no 'church' denomination

Because most men have become nothing more than spineless godless moral-less creatures lower than any animal.
If a man cannot stand for what is good and decent and right then there are women who will.
Perhaps you would do better to follow the words of Jesus.

More faults in the bible... christianity is unfair to women... Jesus was a man, the apostles were men, the diciples... Mary was like the only woman, in catholicism, they discriminate against women, they cant be priests

Yes, I think the Christian women had better switch off or perhaps read but refrain from asking or answering questions here in future.
