Not exactly.
Jesus said at the end of Matthew, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I Am with you always, unto the ends of the ages.
So the message is to make Disciples (students) of Christ, of all Nations. Not so much to convert to Christianity. But that people from all nations be taught the Gospel and be redeemed, part of the family of God, inheriting everlasting life.

All Christians should be Evangelical Christians. The Bible is consistent in instructing us to be witnesses of the good news (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 16:1-4; 1 Peter 3:15). There is no better news than Jesus! There is no higher calling than to be an evangelist.

Christ gives His followers the command to "Go ye unto ALL the world and preach the Gospel (Good News) to all men."
And the Good News is: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. And from this death and resurrection you may have eternal life by joining Him.
Since Christianity at its most basic is just that belief and the joining through baptism with Jesus and all His followers, then you may with accuracy state that the New Testament does indeed preach to convert the peoples of the world to Christianity.

Convert as in Make them believe by force or any means necessary. NO!
We are to preach the good news of God's Kingdom to give relief to all man's needs. We are to offer knowledge of God's ways and what man should do to inherit that Kingdom.
It requires putting that teaching in our hearts not just mind so converting by force would not work. Only offering for people to either accept or reject this message is the only way to go.
It must be done in all the inhabited earth.--Matthew 24: 14

I can't give chapter or verse but... There's what's called "The
Great Commission", part of which says to 'go preach to
all the world'.
There are also some end times stuff that can't happen until
the gospel is preached throughout the world.
Christians feel mandated, even commanded by God to do this

Actually the New Testament is preaching conversion into the son of YAHWEH whose TRUE name is Yahushua(known in English as "Jesus") & his message which is to seek the kingdom of heaven. Where does it mention "Christianity" at ALL?

No. It says to preach the gospel. We can't convert anyone. That's a work of God.

Jesus came and gave the message...There are quotes from Jesus in the New Testment, but it has not converted the World, as a whole, to Christianity. Only God can do that. God wants us to worship Christ, but many will not, until they are called by God, to do so.
Eventually all will live the life that Christ showed us how to live, but it may be after many lessons that must be learned. Christ and God never force us to obey, in this lifetime. In the future, when we are shown what God wants from us. we can choose to follow Christ, or we can choose to not follow Him...but then, that will be the end for those who choose not to.

No. Not the "Christianity" we see today. Yahshua wouldn't even recognise the church as honoring him.
1 John 2:3-6 And by this we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. he that saith, I know ihm, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. but whosoever keepth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected; by this know we that we are in him. He that saidth he abideth in him out himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
Matt 7:18-21 A good tree annot bring forth bad fruit, neither cana corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore, by their fruits ye shall know them. Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he doest the will of my Father, who is in heaven.
He did send his disciples out to to teach all nations and baptize them teaching them to observe all things He commanded. Since his words are the Fathers words and his Father's words are the same that were given to the children of Israel what he was doing is calling them to repent and return to the faith of their fathers not a new religion.
