Jesus said in the Bible that it was not allowed, but Moses allowed it not because it was correct, but because the people were hard hearted.
Matthew 19:7-9
7 Why then," they asked, "did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?"
8 Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.
9 I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery."
Also, in Mark 10:5-9.
5 It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law," Jesus replied.
6 "But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female.'
7 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,
8 and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one.
9 Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

It is a shame when any marriage ends, of course, however:
Divorce is NOT A SIN; let me repeat that for those of you who are a bit slow:
DIVORCE IS NOT A SIN:
ADULTERY would be the sin, if it applies, but not divorce.
God divorced the Tribes of Israel for not being faithful to him (Hosea).
God does not expect a person to live in a relationship of heartache, abuse, etc.
Always try to keep a marriage together, it
is a beautiful and sacred union, but sometimes it is necessary to split, and when it is, upon repentance for any part in that failure, God will look upon it as if it
never occured. Both persons are then free to remarry if they choose.
Thats Biblical, although many churches will hold people in bondage and guilt because they are divorced. When a Church or an individual holds you in bondage for anything, somebody is a liar, because you are free in Christ, and in bondage to no man and to no church system.

Malachi 2:16 - Old Testament.
Jesus explained it is only done because of the hardness of our hearts.
Go to crosswalk.com - they have bible study tools and you can type in "divorce" and get all of the related scriptures.

Matthew 5:31-32
It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
