I was thinking about this. If people keep praying, soon they will just rely on it?
Instead of actually showing dedication and commitment and DOING things and MAKING things happen, they will just pray instead.
Why bother trying to achieve something when you can just pray and "God" will do it for you?
I think praying is very bad for people and I highly discourage it. Go out and do things with your life, don't just pray for good things to happen.
"The sailor does not pray for wind, he learns to sail."
Thoughts?

I agree that sometimes people depend on prayer a bit too much to solve problems rather then finding other ways to do it themselves.

And for those wondering why it effects other people, that's because when enough people depend on prayer instead of finding other ways to solve problems, it affects society as a whole.

People really have their way about prayers and I don't think it's up to you to encourage or even discourage them about it. There's a saying that God has the mercy while Man has the action. You really won't go that far if you just rely on a higher power and not exert any effort whatsoever on your behalf. It's also wrong to blame God with all the bad things that has happened to you and the world. Blame it all on Man because Man has brought it upon himself in the first place.

Prayer is good because it gives Man hope. It gives Man a sense that there is a certain being that can help him in his ways beyond all of his humanly efforts.

Beside without prayer, how will God know how we're doing on earth, right? Prayer is one of those easy and speedy connections to God...

yeah, i know what you mean. it's like the praying diet. eat all you like then pray that it doesn't show. no, not go to the gym to DO something about it, but rely on god to rip all that fat off you.
or praying for a job while hiding inside your house. i mean, an employer isn't going to call up your number randomly and offer you a job, are they?!
i totally agree with you. i have never been sailing but it's number 27 on my to-do list.

Unfortunately there are people thinking praying is suppose to bring them anything they want without effort. Usually they don`t pray for long they realize it doesn't work that way.

I agree with you on the part that when we want something we have to go out there and get it ourselves. The sailor needs to learn how to sail and he can pray God to give him the patience needed to do so and to keep him alert and safe at sea.

your idea of praying is not quiet right .... I don't blame you because our society has taught you..... but praying is supposed to be a state of mind where you listen and talk with your Prime Creator....a thank-full state of mind is good .....and believe you me, God does not do things for you ....He might show you ( in different ways) how or what to do.... but the important thing is to want to do things His way and not push your will.

What is prayer? basically it is a dialog with God.
We could hardly expect to keep our friendship with others healthy if we failed to communicate with them and prayer to God is no different, no prayer means no connection.

I don't pray, but I don't begrudge others doing it. If they get peace and comfort in it, it doesn't impact others in any way, why do you have such a problem with it?
