As most older text people know, their texts tell them that there were commandments of "Thou shalt not"s mostly from a commonly worshipped God. If mankind were to follow such rules and the vagueness of the first commandment to love God, basically people who are hurting and have not learned what to do about their hurts and wanted to be good people, would do nothing, because often they were taught to be vengeful about those things that hurt them.

How would you word some new commandments, you being a part of God, a part of the Creator,.....how would you word commandments that would tell people how to act verses how not to act? Do you think if we acted more positively towards each other, that perhaps there would be a better world to live in today?

Of course! It is about LOVE.

The Bible says it very clearly, though:

9The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself." 10Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

The word 'commandment' is another word for 'law', as when people say "There ought to be a law....."
Laws are not the real answer.
They must be wanted.
If they are not wanted, they must be enforced.
Better to pay attention to attitude.
When one's attitude is positive, laws are less necessary.
Jesus said:
"You must love your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’
This is the greatest and first commandment.
The second is, ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’
On these two commandments the whole Law hangs, and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:376
When one has love of God and neighbor, good things happen almost automatically, making a long series of 'commandments' unnecessary.

Nobody likes hurt feelings, but there does come a time when one needs to grow-up and learn to stop listening to that over-diapered "inner-child" and kick his/her *** out.

As for "re-wording" any of the commandments, no thanks. Man has been doing that in his own mind for thousands of years and look at the cess-pool of immorality and mental decay that it's achieved. But, of course, among the "free-thunkers", this is called "progress". It's that social-Darwinism of "lord of the flies" mentality writ large all over mankinds existence.

Also, judging from the number of responders I can conclude that the commandments are indeed a topic of very little importance in the minds of modern mankind.

I think if one loves God with all their heart and soul and might, then it would be difficult to hate. There is that spark of holiness in each of his creatures, even if they do not demonstrate it.

I'm not talking about squinting your eyes, and clenching your fists in an effort to Love God.

I'm saying it should be a flow....something that connects us all....which would lead to just one other thing....that we love our neighbor as ourselves....which implies that we value this gift of Life we are given...so that we can place value on the gift our neighbor is given.....

I think we do narrowly translate the Word of God. We position Him so that He is on "our side". I do not believe it was God's intention that we cause each other harm.

Be respectful of your neighbor, treat him with common courtesy, and let God judge.

We can do it, we just choose not to. Until then we will do without "Peace on Earth." which is the greatest gift.
