One of the tenants living in my house is a born-again Christian. We can get along for the most part in most things as long as religion doesn't come up. But I have studied the occult and religions for many years and the kind of church she is in actively opposes the occult (or any other religion as demonic).

Please lets not go into the validity of occultism (magic etc.)
What is important is that we have widely different belief systems and that would be fine. But I find it very offensive that she drew a diagram of her prayers. On this diagram she uses the initials of the people living in our house and close friends. And she drew a binding cross through it. She wanted to bind our "worldly knowledge" so we should listen to her. So she can "save" us. I am quite happy with being sceptical about religion. In all honesty I can say Christianity is not my path nor will it ever be. But I find the almost coercive nature of her prayer very offensive. My house by the way.

I'm not talking about my own questions, as I would never seek answers from this herd, but occasionally even one of you will dribble out something that isn't entirely idiotic...and it will get one or two answers. Period.

Me and my girl are madly in love with each other. We are now going to church together because she says we cannot be together if we are not equally yoked because then we would be pulling in different directions. If you haven't guessed it, she is Christian.

But I am not sure what exactly is meant by equally yoked. I used to go to church twice a week, called myself a christian, gave up the ways of the flesh, etc. But I stopped going to church and fell of the path. I prayed for someone like her and I think God sent her to me partly to bring me back to him. I never became really bad, I just stopped following the dogma.

Now I am going to church again and I like it, but am still not sure at what point we are equally yoked. I take it that it means that we both love God more than anything and put Him first. But is there anything else?

While watching the debate (and I'm an atheist, so my view is a little biased of course) between the Rational Response Squad and Kirk Cameron/Ray Comfort, I couldn't help but feel that even the atheists could have defended God better than Cameron/Comfort did.

9 out of 10 Christians I see in this section could have easily done a better job than Cameron/Comfort. But how do Christians feel about these defenders of God?

If in christianity god made adam and eve...why are we so repulsed at inbreeding. Im sorry but you cant actual make me believe only 2 people populated this world. Also if god made man then why is it that people in 3rd world countries have no idea who he is, I mean they know of or have faith in a creator and a savior but his name isnt christ.

Let's say you live in Africa. I (being a self-proclaimed god) arrive on a boat and capture you. I bring you onto my boat and sail back to America. I then offer you a gift. You can work on my plantation and have a free place to live and free food for the rest of your life. Or you can reject my gift and run away. But the consequence of rejecting my gift is that I will eventually catch you and then brutally beat you every day for the rest of your life. The choice is up to you, since you have been given a gift of free will.

Does this seem like a worthy gift? I mean who wouldn't want to have all their bills paid and free food for the rest of their mortal lives?

Aside from what is said in the Bible. If God has a reason for everything that is good and bad in the world, how do we know his intentions are actually good?

Also, how do we know Satan is Evil? If history is written by the winners, would their roles be reversed had Satan stayed in Heaven and God was banished?

Webster reference: A Bigot is a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices, especially one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance.

As a Mormon, I don't exactly understand all your religions either, but I'm pretty sure all your bibles and holy books says somewhere that bigotry is a sin, as it embodies hatred and intolerance.

America is a nation of many faiths and common values, and bigotry toward anyone because of their beliefs is unacceptable.

If you don't agree with what a person believes in, either leave it be or kindly disregard it in a civilian manner, something like "No thanks, I'm not interested" or "I'll stick to my religion. thanks anyway" instead of saying Mormons are stupid/crazy or something (Which I do not appreciate). it will be a win-win for everyone.

Y'all can either stop bigotry right here and now or regret it later in front of God. Your choice.

What about all of the people that died before the Protestants broke from the Catholics...did they go to hell?

Serious question for the fundamentalists...or anyone who knows what the fundamentalist protestants believe about this.

Knowledge is so much more than memorized quotes from any book. Apparently a great amount of Christians have been taught that all answers are in the Bible. It makes me wonder how many intelligent people remain ignorant because of faith and their controlling shouters.

What is the criteria for gaining access to God and Heaven?
Who can get to heaven?

Please answer both of these completely WITH scripture from the Bible to back it up.

People struggle with the idea of God every day. Does he exist? Which religion is correct? Most human rejection of God is the result of having no evidence that he really exists and disgust at the various competing religions, who all claim to know God better than any other faith.

Well, angels knew for a fact God exists...there was no uncertainty of who he is or what he expects of them and the world. And yet 1/3 of them rebel against him. If God is perfect and good, and the angels know he exists, why did so many reject him?

I haven't been here for months and this section has gotten less attention. I don't see much of the old posters. I guess this place has finally calmed down. I sorta miss the old days. I guess my question is if you miss the old spiritual a religion section or are you okay with the current one?

Like God's existence, if you are obsessed with proving it's a lie, I'd say deep down you feel it's real.

example: I don't spend every waking hour of my day proving there are no mermaids, I think that's ridicules so it doesn't bother me.
How about trying a experiment , instead of taking mens spin on religion ( which is often wrong) ar mens opion on God's non-existence try asking God to reveal himself to you?
not with pre-concieved close mindedness but with a open heart and Spirit?
what have you got to lose..make up your own mind not what has been pounded into it by God Haters or religious leaders.
either way it's "your choice" thanks.
