People struggle with the idea of God every day. Does he exist? Which religion is correct? Most human rejection of God is the result of having no evidence that he really exists and disgust at the various competing religions, who all claim to know God better than any other faith.

Well, angels knew for a fact God exists...there was no uncertainty of who he is or what he expects of them and the world. And yet 1/3 of them rebel against him. If God is perfect and good, and the angels know he exists, why did so many reject him?

To begin, the Bible admits that there are many other gods. (I know it speaks of "false" gods too, but some are acknowledged as "others.") In Genesis we find Adam and Eve in the Garden and that they may eat of any tree except of "knowledge of good and evil." Yet they did and became aware of the nature of choice, of competing alternatives. This, however, is misinterpreted as a fall from "grace" and purity. It was truly a fall forward in the process of human evolution. The mind opened, became self-aware and, by the very definition of free will, released from the constraints of instinctive behavior alone.
Now, zoom up to the supposed heaven. Satan, the Adversary, was, like Prometheus, responsible for bringing the "fire" of mind, or enlightenment to the people. He is called Lucifer, "The Bright Morning Star," symbolic of the new day and awakening. His was a rebellion against the oppressive, ill-tempered, "father" who engendered "his" children to be absolutely dependent upon and subservient to his will, without choice. (He was later forced to amend this condition, by the awakening of free will. Now we may choose to love him or be destroyed. The Nazi party and Communists used a similar tactic.)
Indeed, there are other gods, some of whom have engendered their children to become strong and to learn of life through their own efforts, and thus to be more like unto the image of the divine source.

I don't think the bible as it exist today ever clarified the reasons, or even completely acknowledges the event. John Milton wrote "Paradise Lost" which was a poem about the fall of Lucifer and the founding of hell but to the best of my knowledge the poem was intended as a work of fiction. There was a conference in the Byzantine Empire near the time it was founded where many chapters of the Bible were discarded or rewrote to suit the political needs of the time so this story may have been deleted there or it could have been removed one of the other many times the Bible was rewritten.

We have no idea why it happened or if it happened at all.

They thought for some reason that Lucifer had a chance. They chose to support Lucifer, thus rejecting God. Keep in mind that Lucifer was the highest Angel in heaven... second only to God Almighty, and he was the most beautiful... it may have been easy for him to get a gathering to rebel.

Even those that conclusively know that God exists do not necessarily have to believe IN him.

Remember the people of Jesus' hometown? They heard Him speak and they saw miracles, but they harbored bitterness and jealousy in their hearts. I can see the same, too, happening with other beings besides humans.

Because if he does exist he is not a perfect and good god. He is a horrible mean hearted tyrant. He has never done one thing for anybody on earth and yet he tells us we have to bow to him and praise him that he is our one true father. If my father ever just stood there and watched as little children get raped, killed, starve, and abused, and he has the "power" to stop it all and chooses not to. Then turns around and tells us we have to worship him to go to heaven. Well I got news for you god until you help out the world (not me) I will never show you any thanks.

Angels are not perfect... man is less than the angels here on Earth... so even more men reject God.

The rebellious angels (now called demons) erroneously thought they might do better serving themselves instead of serving God.

In all of eternity, some one had to ask this question: "What if I serve myself instead of God?" Through the bad example of demons and humanity's fall, this question is being answered definitively for all time.

I testify that it is wisdom to obey and serve Jesus! God is a trustworthy God and worthy of all worship.

Because they felt they could better serve themselves if they didn't have to follow God. God could have arranged the inability for angels, or us, to not worship Him. But if He did would they truely be worshipping Him or just following orders? With out free will there would not be true love.

Ever hear of sin? Thats why its so dangerous. Sin is so serious that God killed all of mankind and animals except those on the ark-think about it. Satan is a liar and the father of lies-he convinced Eve that God was mistaken. He can convince you too.

solid question. i think of there are some questions that no count number how undesirable we learn we actually won't understand until we meet head to head w/ Christ and that is between the questions yet right that is my opinion: God loves us all a lot. He needs us to stay with him organic of heart. He does not want us to be pressured or sense like his puppets and persist with Him if we don't want too. confident, He knew the evil of devil. He knew what he could reason in this international yet we now have the want to stay with God or not yet people who persist with Christ...properly....we persist with because of the fact we want not because of the fact he's forcing us. we're not being pressured into our ideals by making use of Him. we don't ought to stay with Him if we don't want. He has created us all with the skill to think of and make our own judgements. He has given each and all of the liberty of choose...Him or devil? individually, i choose Christ! :D What an fantastic God we've!!!!!! And no! God isn't the basis of all evil. that still is going to devil!!! God is Love! not even an oz. of undesirable is in Him. God created us all to His image. which skill all of us have solid in us and we are able to do great things in is call! regrettably, devil became too jealous and wanted extra. He wanted each and all of the flexibility and he lost each and all of the solid he had and is now organic EVIL!!! wish I helped! :D
