GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Hamas militants have enlisted a figure bearing a strong resemblance to Mickey Mouse to broadcast their message of Islamic domination and armed resistance to their most impressionable audience — children

giant black-and-white rodent — named "Farfour," or "butterfly," but unmistakably a rip-off of the Disney character — does his high-pitched preaching against the U.S. and Israel on a children's show each Friday on Al-Aqsa TV, a station run by Hamas. The militant group, sworn to Israel's destruction, shares power in the Palestinian government.

"You and I are laying the foundation for a world led by Islamists," Farfour squeaked on a recent episode of the show, which is called "Tomorrow's Pioneers."

"We will return the Islamic community to its former greatness, and liberate Jerusalem, God willing, liberate Iraq, God willing, and liberate all the countries of the Muslims invaded by the murderers."

My friend daniela commited suicide last week, and during her funeral her casket was placed into the wall instead of the ground. I'm pretty educated in my bible and catechism, but I don't seem to remeber reading anything about not being able to be burried into the ground what's the reason for this? I do remeber my brother once say that a catholic who has commited suicide can't recieve a proper burial is this true? Sorry for not asking my parents I just don't feel like talking about it to people and I was just curious. Also, please pray for my friend she was a very good person and I don't understand why she did it.

I find it so saddening that Christians are getting a really bad reputation in America because of the fundie Anti-gay bigots...

I am gay and my family is Christian... we get along great and have no time for these loud-mouths.

Who will stand with us to tell people like Reverend Phelps and Rush Limbaugh to take a flying leap and stop perverting the love that exists among American Families?

If your faith leads you to subjugate women or blow up innocent people for the cause, does that faith deserve the same respect as the faith of the Dalai Lama (for example)?

On the bottom were subtitles in english, the characters (A little girl with a towel on her head, and an animated animal, like a bear), were going on and on about how Allah wanted them to put their trust in the AK47, and that Bush, Sharon, and the west were going to be destroyed by Islam.
Why doesn't the US brain wash it's kids with anti-Muslim cartoons/childrens shows?

I agree with probably almost everyone else that their actions are despicable. Yet, I have to admit that their logic seems compelling, at least at first glance.

If I understand it correctly, the logic goes as follows:

a) God clearly outlines in the bible what is ok to do and what is not ok to do. The stuff that is not ok to do pisses God off.
b) People do the stuff that is not ok all the time.
c) The bad stuff that is happening (disasters, etc.) is a manifestation of God being unhappy and a sign that people need to stop doing what is not ok.

In other words, what gives other Christian denominations the right to pick and choose from the bible?

So - what gives? Is this sound reasoning?

since i visit yahoo answers i see that every day more christians are just accepting the most obscure parts in the bible and putting aside the deeper messages. Are people becoming more superstitious instead of more spiritual?.
examples: people believe about creation, the devil as a "someone", antichrist, jesus coming back, hell, heaven, end of the world (they picture it full of Special visual effects) instead of the message that may be behind all that, would they allow themselves to think of all these just as metaphors about something deeper.
Are christians swimming on the surface and not daring to dive deeper???

I believe evolution was guided by God. The foot nails were created to to match/correspond to out finger nails, and the function of finger nails is obvious. (Please don't tell me the foot nails make us run faster. There are bones in our feet.) The matching is for artistic purpose only. So you see, God is also a beauty designer.

Mine was ok. I had a speech final (and I have a Art History final tomorrow), and I had to sit for a couple of hours while professors and other students examined my research project (what was stupid was that they scheduled this at supper time). My day got better when I found a lost duckling and returned it to it's mother. (Yes, I know it's not like returning a lost child to his/her parents, but I felt good about it.) So, how was your day?

This might sound kind of abstract, so let me give you an example.

Yesterday, I asked a question about Islam. Basically all answerers - to the man - said: "Don't worry about it, Islam is the religion of peace, suicide is strictly prohibited, so is killing people. Hence killing people is not possible within Islam"

Today, I turn on the news and see a couple of people who call themselves muslims aimed at killing as many people as possible in the name of allah (soldiers in this case).

So - which one is it and what is more important? What the book says or what the self-proclaimed believers actually do?
